Hacking New 3ds Carts in 2018?

Sky 3DS has been great as far as functionality, but my 2nd one just crapped out. So I guess I'm about to buy my 3rd one! I was wondering if anyone knew of any other carts to be released soon that might be better than sky. I have looked into stargate. Kind of a flop if it only works with certain ROMs, right? It would be so nice to have something with an actual GUI without having to downflash my 3DS.

Just install Boot9Strap and Luma3DS on your New 3DS, waste of money using cart like Sky3ds and Stargate.

Will that allow me to use all my encrypted ROMs? I'm down to try some new stuff, but all I have seen from CFW so far is kind of gimmicky; like save states, homebrew, streaming.
All I care about is playing 3DS and NDS games. I have a R4I card that works great for NDS.

You can install games via Cia format when you have Luma3ds set up. Depends on the region, US games are like 99% available.

I see... Thanks for the info. I really have looked. Even the Newb forums aren't newb enough for me. I just want to know what all the hype is with CFW. All they want to talk about is screen brightness and gimmicks. I spent weeks hunting down all these encrypted ROMs. Would I be able to keep my .SAV files at least??

You can convert them using something like this I believe, I never used any Gateway/Sky3DS cart though, so Im not 100% sure.
