i have purchased a new3ds in a game lot and its giving me the arm11 (core1) error on boot up. i have updated luma to the current system firmware which i have also updated via button combo on boot and same error. will not boot without the sd card also. all the files seem to be correct on the sd card and folder structure. i have tried https://3ds.hacks.guide/ctrtransfer.html this with no success. there is no nand on the sd card. i do have a r4+ card if that could be of use for unbricking. thanks in advance :)

Why would you call that a "brick"!? Also, which "arm11" error?

What exactly did you do when you updated Luma? Do you mean you copied a new file to the SD card, or what?

Meaning what, exactly? What did you do? Does that mean your unit can still boot into godmode9? (Don't you think you should mention that?)

i call it a brick because it only boots to the arm 11 core1 error? what would that be called?
when i tried to update luma i followed the guide where it says to drop the files in their respective spots on the sd card... root i recall..

i can boot into god yes followed that guide i posted and followed it exactly as i should have. didnt think i had to mention it as the tutorial i posted requires god to boot ...... in order to install ctr....

I call it "booting with an arm 11 error screen". The word "brick" implies a unit that does absolutely nothing and that behaves like a brick. This is a brick; please note that it is very unlikely to power on, boot into godmode9, or provide any error messages.

You still haven't said exactly what arm11 error you're seeing and it's kind of pointless to try to give advice without knowing more information. There are many possible arm11 errors and things that can cause arm11 errors.

If you did it wrong, that might be the cause of the problem, which is why it is important to say exactly what you did.

  1. As of Luma3DS v8.0, boot9strap v1.2 or higher is required for usage and all previous entrypoints are no longer supported. Refer to this for information on how to update from arm9loaderhax, or start from here if you do not yet have arm9loaderhax or boot9strap.
  2. Download the latest version of Luma3DS from here. The file you want to download is Luma3DSvX.X(.X).7z, not Source code (zip) or Source code (tar.gz)!
  3. Extract boot.firm from the Luma3DSvX.X(.X).7z archive with a tool like 7-zip (Windows/Linux) or Unarchiver (macOS) to the root of your 3DS' SD card. If your 3DS will not power on after this step or you get an "Unsupported loader" error, please try updating boot9strap.
  4. Optional: Follow "Section VI - CTRNAND Luma3DS" here. This will allow you to boot your 3DS without having an SD card inserted.
^^^^this^^^^

a brick is a console that doesnt boot up to a firmware imo. there are hard bricks and soft bricks.

So what now?
- You can still access GodMode9.
- Arm11 errors with and without the sd card inserted. And even after ctrtransfer?
What about Luma3DS Menu? Just make sure you have the latest version in the sd card.
What about recovery mode?

Yes yes I do and recovery mode? Is that the button combo to force an official update?

You still haven't said what arm11 error you are seeing. Do you see it listed in https://wiki.hacks.guide/wiki/3DS:Error_screens/Luma3DS_exception_screen ?

Do you see the same error when you boot without an SD card, or a different error? Your first post says "will not boot without the sd card also" and now I am wondering what you meant by that.

If you are getting the same error with and without your SD card, then the console is probably failing to read your SD card properly. Connect the SD card to your PC, copy everything off the SD card (use Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier if you want to be extra careful), format the card according to https://3ds.hacks.guide/formatting-sd-(windows) , test the empty card with https://3ds.hacks.guide/h2testw-(windows).html, and copy everything back if the test is okay.

a brick is a console that doesnt boot up to a firmware imo.

I replied with a pic earlier to show the error. And yes same error without the sd card as stated won't boot without the sd card also. I formatted the card as fat or fat 32 can't remember then replaced only the required files to boot. No extra cia's etc. Same results same errors

The answer is apparently in the link I already posted.

ns

The Luma configuration setting Hbmenu autoboot is set to boot to a title that does not exist.
To fix, disable the option, install an application with the title ID in sd:/luma/config.ini, or change the set title ID to match an application that does exist.

Tried that
What, exactly, did you try, and what happened when you tried it!?

no, the word brick implies a unit that doesnt function anymore and might as well just be a paperweight. otherwise gateway bricks aren't bricks because it boots to a blue screen instead of doing nothing...

this one is likely fixable, but that doesnt make it any less of a brick. every 3ds software brick is fixable these days anyway
