Nes Classic with Glupen64 + 8bitdo Wireless Control

I have Glupen64 and am trying to run Mario Kart N64.
The d pad is not working could someone please kindly tell me how to get it to work.
My control is the 8bitdo Nes 30 wireless control.
I'm not sure if its because the N64 games needs analogue.

Mario Kart 64 does use analog controls, so I don't think using a D-Pad would work.

Looking at the specs of it, yes! It should work perfectly fine!

Ok my son gave me a wii u pro controller which I have synched with the 8bitdo dongle but for the life of me I cant get glupenN64 to work with the control and I doing something wrong?

Ok so I have the wii u pro controller half working.
I can now use the analogue sticks but cant use the Y or X buttons.
Hoping you can please help.
