I have this broken copy of metroid for NES and I was thinking of what I could do with it.

Well I could put a laptop HDD into it and make a new sticker that says "NES hard disk drive" or something fancy and retro?

Would anyone want if I did a good job?

Or a USB hub?

Knock yourself out I suppose

. You could make one out of it, add some rubber and such.... don't know if it would do you any good though

. You could make an SSD out of it, that would be kinda fun I suppose

. Not sure but I'd say the cartridge should fit a 5,25 inch bay. If you also have a NES lying around and some mini ITX machine (or old laptop) then making a disc out of it would be cool: you could make multiple discs which you can swap to run different kind of games (say a cartridge for MAME, one for old dos games, etc.). Pointless, but kinda fun

Well would you consider it cool if it looked like some kind of offical NES HDD or something?
