I need to replace the drive in a 4.3 virgin Wii. It is my understanding after doing some reading that the D3-2 drive will not work with a softmod will the D2B work?

D3-2 Drive works fine!! It just won't read backups thats all... Get a USB hard drive instead its a better investment than a new drive.

Thanks for the advice but I will still need a drive because the wii is unmodded and is updated to 4.3 and in order to mod I need a working drive. Do you know of any other work around a bad drive on firmware 4.3?

why not just leave the drive alone and just use a usb loader isntead? It would probably be cheaper to go out and buy an external hard drive and its better

Or, I also heard that if you use flash memory, it can act as more "RAM" at least windows tell me when I stick a flash drive into it.

It can act as a swap drive but that isn't more RAM, it's slooow.
