I made it to this point

Section II - Installing arm9loaderhax
  1. Reinsert your SD card into your 3DS
  2. Do the steps for installing arm9loaderhax on your device:
But I'm getting a "payload_stage1.bin doesn't exist or exceeds maximum size" error.Help please?

I'm using SafeA9LHInstaller v2.0.3

Did you put payload_stage1.bin in the a9lh folder?

I got all the stuff from the guide, maybe i got confused with all these things in my folder.I'll check.

Edit:Nope, don't even know where it is.I'll check all the folders.
Just re-download it from the guide and re-read the guide from a9lh to make sure everything is on the sd card.

Alright,I had backed up the System NAND and now that I restored it I'm back to 11.0.0-33U.The guide says to update now.Do I skip the step with "If your backup was of a version between 3.0.0 and 4.5.0, manually download the required firmware."?Since my back up was 11.0.0-33U.

Yep, since as you stated, the backup was from 11.0 :)

So now that I have Arm9LoaderHax and Luma installed there is no reason to downgrade?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Only other thing is how to move all of my new stuff to a bigger SD Card.

No reason, and to move the data, as long as you dont use a rednand you can just click and drag everythinv from thr old sd card to the new one.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
