Summon Nights: Twin Age is good.
TWEWY is overrated but good.
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow is a good start for a non-Castlevania fan
FFCC:RoF is good
Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure is a must have for a Sonic fan on the DS

all the final fantasy (3, 4 12 r wings) plus the dragon quest 4. Dragon quest monster joker which i like it's a bit like pokemon but better.

Plus i like viva pinata pocket paradise in quick burst of play 1 to 2 hours

seeing your likings i'd suggest time hollow(should be similar to hotel dusk, and the phoenix wright series)
and you might also like soma bringer(requires translation patch)

and if you want a real time killer: 100 classic book collection.
loads of books to read.(might i suggest some sherlock holmes?)
