Hardware Need help with external USB drive

I've installed Homebrew to the external USB hard drive connected to my Wii, and it runs fine from there. It loads perfectly, and downloads and runs games with no problems.

However, when Homebrew apps try to write to the disk, it always fails. Configurable USB loader will run from the disk, but fails to mount it, so I can't put games on the external disk. SysCheck cannot write it's report. Games cannot record their high scores.

The problem occurs with any external usb disk I try. I have 2 Wii's, both configured the same. Both have this issue.

I can't understand why Homebrew can write to the disk, but nothing else can.

Unfortunately, I'm not very technically astute when it come to the Wii, so I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this issue.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I tried the Homebrew forum with no luck.

do you mean to say you can't load games through usb hdd because usb loader fails to load?
