Yo, not exactly sure if this is the right place to post but couldnt find a more fitting place.
Anyways, for the past 2 days I've been getting an error that reboots my 3ds every time I open any game or homebrew app (system apps are unaffected)
My luma & B9S are both fully updated and friends suggested that my SD Card might be dying (its about 2 years old) so I tried full formatting it and putting back all my files in it but I still get the error
About the error: it basically freezes the top screen and gives the err screen on the bottom one after about 2 minuts of gameplay on any game
Any ideas? Would getting a new SD fix this?
Here's a pic of the error

1. Copy everything off your card and set it aside on your computer.
2. Reformat your card as FAT32 and 32 KB cluster size. Use guiformat if the card is bigger than 32 GB.
3. With the card empty, run a Full Write + Verify test with H2testw.

-If the card fails at any point in the test, your card is either fake or dying with bad NAND cells. *
- If the card instantly passes the test without doing any writing, you card has died and locked itself in Read-Only mode.
- Both outcomes requiresreplacing with a new SD card.

* [Except for a tiny sliver if there's a small hidden partition].

If the card passes the test, perhaps you're using an old, slow card like a speed rated Class 4?

Edit - Another possibility is that your SD reader is the one that's dying. Try testing with a 2nd SD card and see if the error happens on that one, too.

Is your 3DS an original 3DS? If it is, and the SD card passes all the tests, your 3DS card reader might just be a little bent, it happened to mine. I just had to put some pressure on the metal plate that holds the card so it would go back to normal, but I'd recommend doing this only after you're made sure it isn't some other problem.

Thanks for the advice, I tried everything you said and the test finished without errors (Writing speed: 7.30 MByte/s and Reading speed: 19.1 MByte/s) and yes I am using a speed rated Class 4 SD. I know its technically slow but its been fine for as long as i've been using it. Any ideas? I'll try testing another SD to see if its just the reader that's being stupid

How big is your card? I know some 3DS come from the factory with 4 GB Lexar micro SD that's Class 4. This card can get away with it not only because it's I/O speed isn't hindered by its small size but also most large, graphic intensive games can't fit on it.

For larger SDHC cards (up to 32 GB) that are Class 4, it doesn't help the [allocation table] is bigger. <-- Think of having an office with cabinets and stacks of folders and documents. Your boss asks you find that TPS report from two months ago. You know where to look to find it, but you rather deal with weekly paper work instead of quarterly.

Hey uhh, any instructions on which part I'm going to put pressure on? and how do I access it?

You don't need to unscrew anything, it's just through the normal opening. I can't get a good picture because of low light and the flash makes it worse, but if you open the flap there are 2 metal plates, one on the bottom and one on the top. Ideally, both of them should be perfectly straight, if they're not then the card might not make good contact with the pins. On mine, the plate at the top (the one closer to the front of the 3DS) was bent upwards, so I had to bend it back down using a flat screwdriver. The one at the bottom usually doesn't bend by itself, since it sits directly on the bottom of the 3DS. Keep in mind that you can bend the plates too much, and that bending it too many times can weaken it and eventually break it, so just apply enough force to correct it.

Ok some kind of bump/update for this
I installed the new Luma Nightlie boot.firm and updated to 11.8 and everything seemed to be fixed for couple days then the exact same error came back just five minuts ago and won't go
also turns out my card reader and SD card are both fine.
Any ideas? im honestly confused at this point :/

Substitute with a Class 10 SD card. Check if the issue goes away.

If the error comes back even on that faster card, consider replacing your SD card reader.
