Hello, I recently bought a pre-hacked old 2ds but I accidentally overwrited my 3ds bank folder, and I also realized that I don't have any form of a band backup file. I do have some knowledge on hacking 3ds, but I've only hacked my brother's new 3ds xl. What can I do? I don't want to loose my data

You're going to have to go into some more detail about exactly what you did. How did you overwrite the folder? What makes you think it is overwritten? Did you have a 3DS bank folder from a different unit on your SD card, or something?

In any case, this has nothing to do with your NAND; there is no save data stored there (except for built-in games).

Sorry for being a bit unclear in my original post, in the post I am addressing 2 different problems
1. I have 3ds bank and I opened it but immediately closed it, what I didn't know is that when you exit out of 3dsbank through the home button you create a new file and I assume my 3ds bank was overwritten and now I have nothing on my homescreen
2. my 2ds was bought pre hacked but I am worried because I can not find the gm9 nand backup

That is extremely unclear, yes.

I'm not familiar with 3DS Bank, but I don't think it's going to overwrite things just because you pressed the Home button..?

If it "created a new file", can't you just switch back to the other file?

...Too bad, I guess? That's what happens when you buy a pre-hacked system. You're just going to have to hope you don't need the NAND backup.

If you want to make a new NAND backup, then follow https://3ds.hacks.guide/godmode9-usage.html#creating-a-nand-backup (or https://3ds.guide/restoring-updating-cfw if you want to be thorough).

Thanks, By the way 3dsbank is like if you have to many games. its for creating a whole separate home screen, and I accidentally deleted mine and can't access any of my files, I think I have to reset though. Thanks for the help

I should clarify: I've heard of 3DS bank, but I don't have personal experience with it. But it remains: I very much doubt it's going to wipe out your entire SD card just because you pressed the Home button! Worst case scenario is that it rearranged your data slightly and you just have to manually rename something to bring it back. I suggest you read the 3DS Bank documentation very carefully.

I think I have to reset though.
Whatever you do, don't do a System Format, because that is the one thing that will make your old data difficult to retrieve!

Well, no need to panic. All is not yet lost.

The first thing you have to do is restore your Nintendo 3DS folder. Look at the folders on your SD card; one of them should be much larger than all the others. Presumably you can just rename that to "Nintendo 3DS". The folder should contain exactly one folder with an extremely long random name (this is your "ID0"); inside that folder should be exactly one folder with a different extremely long random name (this is your "ID1").

The second thing you need to do is to restore your encryption key. Doing a System Format changes the encryption key and makes all your old SD card data completely unreadable. To change it back you will have to use the CTRTransfer Type D9 script. This script dooes many completely unrelated things; you want to use the finding and restoring the KeyY function.
