Hi everyone,

My V2 Switch was working fine before I installed the modchip. Right after the installation, I noticed some strange behavior:

At first, I saw a white screen flicker when I moved the console slightly.

Then, there was no SD screen, but after another slight movement, it booted into OFW.

A few seconds later, the screen displayed green dots. I immediately disconnected the battery.

I rechecked all the connections under a microscope, and everything seemed fine.

After reconnecting the battery and powering on, I got a blue screen.

The modchip showed 2 blue blinks and 1 or 2 green blinks (not exactly sure).

After removing the battery again, I got a black screen and no signs of life from the chip.

After a few power cycles, the console would sometimes show a blue screen, or appear completely dead.

This is my third Switch. It's the first one that had issues. I'm confident my soldering was solid, connections looked good under a microscope, but clearly, something went wrong.

Am I totally screwed? It feels like I may have accidentally shorted something or bridged a point I didn’t catch.

I've read a few threads about corrupted eMMC, but my issue doesn’t seem to match, especially since it doesn't boot into Hekate. I’m really worried I may have damaged the APU or RAM.

If anyone with experience can help me troubleshoot or suggest how to test whether it's salvageable, I'd really appreciate it. Any advice or direction would mean a lot.

Thanks.

No need to panic, your issue can probably be fixed.

The blue screen can have a whole bunch of other causes but ram issues were the most common for me.
With a broken APU, the Switch usually doesn't show anything at all.

Blue screens showing up usually is the Switch panicking that it suddenly cannot access the ram.
If it happens in a very early stage of the boot, the Switch won't boot.
After the initial boot stage, the Switch will show you this blue screen.
Ram chips can sometimes get bad contacts after a while, even without modding the Switch.
Heat causes the PCB to flex and that breaks the connection.
The emmc has a 1-bit fallback feature but the ram doesn't.

Damage like scratches on the main board usually show more consistent behavior.
So that doesn't really match what you described.

One silly trick is to push down gently on the ram chips.
If it boots fine then you probably found your issue.
It doesn't always work if the connection is really bad.
The real solution is to reflow or reball the ram chips.
If you have the skills, you can try it yourself.
Else reach out to one of the repair guys on the forum here.
Many of them take mail-in repairs.

By the way, you can see in Hekate in the 'internal emmc info' menu if your partitions are good or not.

Here are some pictures. And an update:

I left it for a few hours and connected back the eMMC. It booted normally when it got to the lock screen the touchscreen, vol and power button seemed unresponsive. I removed the battery to power off. Then I powered on again, the Nintendo logo managed to show up and then black screen. I will try to update with some photos.

I measured the resistance. Across the ends of sp1,2 9.5-10.5 ohms. Sp1 right side 10 left 0.5, Sp2 right 0.5 left 10

I replied on my post with an update. I tried pushing in the ram and no change. I left it for some hours and connected the eMMC back. It booted normally on the lock screen and no touch or buttons. Turned off through battery. Then turned on again. Only the Nintendo logo and then black screen. After power on again black screen
