Reasonably :-P Mini pasta started right up, and Emunand is setting up. Much further than I had gotten previously.

EmuNand9 wouldn't run? Have you tried sitting on the EmuNand9 screen for at least 10 seconds? Also, I would recommend following the Plailect Wiki guide, as it's up-to-date: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-2-(Downgrading)

From where you are, if you download starter.zip and extract it to root, scan this QR code: https://yls8.mtheall.com/3dsbrowserhax.php

And then skip to Part 2, step #17 in that guide and it should guide you through the rest of the process, all the way through Menuhax to the A9LH setup.

I'd do a downgrade check again, just in case.

This would be nice to know as well. I wonder if your 3DS has a clean downgrade!

Be aware, your tutorial seems to be a little outdated (no needs to patch the gba/twl firm for example) with Luma3DS.
Please, follow the Plailect Guide.

Fair enough, so far it got through the emunand setup, but I can't seem to access HBL any longer. Looking at that guide now, but CN has failed to get to HBL twice now on a red screen.

Use browserhax or reinstall ninjhax with 9.2 payload in order to access the homebrew launcher.

Try downloading the latest boot.3dsx and deleting the save data of CN, then rescanning the QR code.

You have just formatted the sd card, so you have not the boot.3dsx on the SD, right? (because of the installation of the emunand).
So, yeah, like SomeGamer said, redownload the boot.3dsx.

Well, got to the point where I need to start up LUMA for the first time. Another black screen. :-P Maybe I should try ctr.

Ahhhhh, that's the last thing you want to do in the Plailect Guide. Every step is necessary (unless stated in the guide itself), and skipping steps will only risk bricks later on in the guide.

At this point I'd say upgrade to 10.7, then downgrade from there.

Luna3DS should work simply by using CN to set up Menuhax and launching Luma from CTRBootManager or Homebrew Launcher upon booting up the system. You can install Luna3DS simply by copying the Luma3DS.zip contents to your SD root and merging any folders+replacing any files it asks about.

Only if you tell it to. If you hold Select as you boot Luma3DS up and tick the checkbox that says "Display Sys and Emu in System Settings", then it will.

Yes, if you activate it in the config menu.

Trying, holding select is giving me a black screen more times than not.

That's really unusual. You pressed Start to save the config after checking the box, and it booted into a home menu and yet still didn't display the System Version properly?

Can you post another downgrade log, just in case?
