Hacking Homebrew ROM Hack Others Need help installing custom firmware

ive been trying to install cfw to run fbi, cia files, ect, but every method ive seen is either outdated or requires the right shoulder to open safe mode in which my right shoulder is broken on my 2ds xl. Is there a way i can still install custom firmware?
Ive managed to get the homebrew launcher and my version is 11.16.0.49E if this helps.

Consider replacing or cleaning [←Be careful!] the buttons.
When opening N2DSXL make sure not to rip off the volume slider notch (guess why I say this).

Other than that:

They really take aging/malfunctioning hardware in account – though a console is kind of limited without ALL buttons working anyway.
