Ok, so I just bought a XBOX a while back.

Is there a guide here how to softmod the XBOX? What are the benefits of having a sofmodded XBOX other than playing backup games

Emulators, Linux, Mediacenter.
That's pretty much it.

First off you'll have to obtain a copy of either 007 Agent Under Fire, Mechassault 1 or Splintercell.
MUST BE ORIGINALS AND NO PLATINUM HITS!.

Then you could mod your controller and solder a USB port on one of the memory card ports so that you can use a USB drive for copying the hacked saves over.
Otherwise I'd suggest getting a hacked save on a MU from someone with a modded xbox.

Then you sould follow the SID (Softmod installer deluxe) tut.

Be sure to backup your unmodded C:/ and modded C:/

You could also do a hotswap but I don't recommend it since it can kill your HDD.

If you have a v1.0-v1.5 TSOP flash it and if it's a v1.6 softmod it.
When it's TSOP flashed it will be a lot easier to upgrade the harddrive and also be able to use and IDE2SATA adapter and install a 2TB HDD.

You can make a Xbox HDD with HDMaker iirc.

It does require you to dump your HDDKey

Too bad XBL 1.0 is down, things were so much easier back then. Update to newest and all that.

Biggest advantage for me is being able to run games from the internal HDD, and the pretty excellent N64 and PSX Emulators that were made for it. Used to use it as a media center, but newer devices (WiiMC, really) took over that job.

Pop in a legit Halo 2 disc.

Just google it.


To mod it, you'll need a hacked save on your HDD and a game.
007 Agent under Fire
Mechassault
and Splintercell

THESE MUST ALL BE ORIGINAL.
No platinum hits no backups.
