I really need to make space on my SD card. I have a bunch of files that I'm sure I don't need.

At the moment I have arm9 installed but can't figure out how to boot into decrypt9 for the life of me....

I'm new to all of this and probably don't understand half the stuff that is installed on my SD card. Can someone with patience help me?

Yeah that should save you a lot of space.
If you have any cia files youve already installed, you can get rid of the cia (The game data is stored in the Nintendo 3DS folder)

Done. That definitely helped.
Now if i can just get decrypt9 working.

I use CtrBootManager9, which I have set up with multiple boot options (example: one for AuReiNand.bin, another for Decrypt9WIP.bin).
Just modify the first entry for whatever CFW you are using. The bin for CtrBootManager9 must be named arm9loaderhax.bin

Here is an example of what my a9lh.cfg looks like:
Code:
; CtrBootManager configuration file

[general]        ; General configuration
timeout = 3        ; Default timeout in seconds (-1 = disable autoboot)
recovery = 2 ; Hold this key to enter the menu (SELECT) (keycode: https://goo.gl/4XLDIL)
default = 0             ; Default boot entry

[theme] ; theme use RGB colors
bgTop1 = 000000             ; top gradient 1 (BLACK)
bgTop2 = 000000             ; top gradient 2 (BLACK)
bgBottom = 000000           ; bottom color (BLACK)
highlight = dcdcdc ; selection highlight box (WHITE/GREY)
borders = ffffff ; borders color (WHITE)
font1 = ffffff              ; default font (WHITE)
font2 = 000000              ; selected font (BLACK)
bgImgTop = /bgTop.bin       ; 400x240 pixels (https://xem.github.io/3DShomebrew/tools/image-to-bin.html)
bgImgBot = /bgBot.bin       ; 320x240 pixels

[entry]
title = AuReiNand ; the name that is displayed in the boot menu
path = /AuReiNand.bin ; path to a homebrew or CFW (in bin format) that you want to boot
offset = 0 ; dont need to modify this part
key = -1 ; Key to override default boot entry (NONE). Don't remove, must be last entry !

[entry]
title =    Decrypt9WIP            ;
path =    /Decrypt9WIP.bin  ;
offset = 0                  ;
key = 3 ; Key to override default boot entry (START). Don't remove, must be last entry !

Try the version of decrypt9 from this post (ignore the instructions, they're irrelevant), I'm using it and it works very well for me.
