Hacking Need a new Wii modchip.

Okay, before I start to get flamed and such, I've been in the DS/Wii scene for a while, but only in terms of games. Ever since I had my d2ckey, I just forget about all the other modchips. Now, I have a second Wii I got for my cousin for his christmas present and I'm just confused on what to get.

The Wii I want modded:

There is a 100% chance the chipset is GC2-D2C (v1).

Anyways, I have no idea where to start. I was looking at softmodding it, but I got really confused because there's something called Softchips now? Is that the software's name or is that a name of a modchip?

But forget about softmodding it, although its practically free and doable 'cause I can get access to Twilight right away, I don't think my cousin would know how to fix it in case it needs more than just "boot dvd, click play" process.

So far I encountered D2Sun 1.5 and 3.0. Any other recomendations?

If it helps, I'd rather have ones that has good compability.

What about the D2Ckey. Despite being from the wiikey team, it still on of the most highly recommended.

Get a WiiWasp if available for you.

Any other recomendations though? I've never actually heard of WiiWasp.

Basically, al I'm looking for is a modchip that has good compability and doesn't have a lot of issues.

I have never heard of wiiwasp either. I have never used a D2Ckey before but I use a wiikey and it works really well. I just recommended a D2Ckey as it is the most popular modchip for your motherboard. Since it is the most popular, you should be able to find plenty of help if problems arise.

I currently have a D2Ckey for mine and yes, its awesome since I encountered no problems with it.. except Animal Crossing. But, it has no updates I believe.

I can't buy things online.. so I'm gonna go to a mall to get it soldered and everything instead. It's quite expensive, but whatever. It's a quick present for my cousin.
