From a interview with Bill Gates:
I dunno about wanting to stand in front of my desk and accidentally hurt myself as I hit it with my hand attempting to play a game. However a lot of people now have PC's as the centre of their entertainment gubbins, while you can have a remote control to control stuff or even use a Wiimote but it would be nice to have something better suited I guess though I personally keep my PC at a desk at all times.

I hope it doesn't, I think it's a rather stupid idea in the first place.

I wouldn't want this to happen. How the hell would you play MMOs with Natal? That's not even possible. I'd rather use my mouse for that.

    Guys calm down [IMG]

It makes sense, considering he said "great for if you're in the home, as you want to manage your movies, music, home system type stuff"

That doesn't just mean games, it could be used for a wide variety of applications and if done right could work well. iTunes for example you could grab the screen and wave your hand up and down to scroll. or point and select play or something.

It doesn't JUST have to be for games, I dont think it's going to replace a mouse or keyboard. I think it would be cool, I'd use it on the 360 for games, and on the PC for applications.

    but I have a Mac.

Natal is a failure in progress especially in gaming. Gaming is meant to use some sort of solid controls (controller, wiimote, joystick, balance board, etc.)

I can't see them doing this for the PC. These days Microsoft focus primarily on the xbox for gaming, which is a shame. I'd prefer to keep gimmicky features off the PC anyway.

You don't even know that yet!.

While I prefer a controller in my hands, this looks interesting if it performs as it's shown.

in my opinion is natal a great system, but it must be used as an sort of 3d Itoy. otherwise I think that the system is not gonna make it very well

I would guess, that Natal needs space (like WiiSports needs space when you play Tennis with friends for example...) so it would be natural to use it with a TV, as shown in E3, rather than in front of a small computer-screen or a notebook. I think Natal will be used, to expand the audience of the 360... And IMO just the 360, since the marketing-campaign will be on point!

I guess Bill is thinking as a consumer here, not as a marketing-person.

I heard, that some people got hands on Burnout with Natal-controls and the impressions where good. Maybe they could even use a little plastic to fully max out the illusion [IMG] But I would guess, that Natal won`t work with every game or/and genre and Microsoft knows that. They also know who they are targeting with this. I am really curious, if they`ll succeed!?

And guys, don`t forget: Johnny Lee is working with Natal [IMG]

    same here

but for some reason i have a feeling that it will sell pretty darn well.

its obvious Project Natal is merely there to attack Nintedo's Wii

Microsoft : "Look at us, you can now control your stuff with your body. We are so cool."

    Consumers: "WOW!!!!"

Oh okay, It seems I wasn't far off.

Edit: IMO, that is much more impressive than NATAL. I can actually see that being put to use.

That was cool. And yeah, impressive. Wii should be able to do that. Instead it's lame.

I say wait till it comes out and then see how useful it is. Electronic drawing pads, tablet laptops, etc have their uses, just not to everyone in every application. Until it gets tried out, you never know. I imagine they see it as an interface like in the movie 'Minority Report', minus the holo projection.

It all depends on how well the applications are coded to make use of it, and if it's even useful at all, or a gimic? Is it a natural interaction, or something forced?

It's not like some suits from MS will show up at your door, take away your mouse, keyboard, and game pad at gun point, then force you to use a natal.

Please, most of us have a DS... Don't tell me you haven't played games where the touchscreen is an awesome addition to the control interface, and other times you wonder what someone was smoking when they tried to add a touchscreen element to the game.
