Homebrew NANDdumper loading screen letters?

random question. I wonder why NANDdumper uses letters with numbers (A,B,C,D,E,F) in the loading status screen? Anyone have an idea why this is?
 
These are hexadecimal (base 16) numbers. As they need more symbols than your base 10 system they just just letters. The advantage of hexadecimal is that one symbol maps excatly to 4 bit as 2^4=16. So it is sometimes more convenient to describe memory values that way.
