Well, I asked this once before... but maybe it's worth asking gain (never got an answer).

Has anyone successfully completed this mod on a NEWER 3DS? By this I mean a console that launched with 6.x+ firmware. I ask this because that is all I have EVER tried it on. Wondering if there could be some hardware, software, or both, differences between these units?

Can't read a thing. :(

Once again have tried three different machines, two different card readers, even FOUR different OS's :/
When you were in linux, what did you do to see if it worked?

Before plugging the SD card in:
  1. Open a terminal and type "sudo fdisk -l"
  2. Plug the card in and repeat the command and see if another device appears.
  3. If there is no difference, type in "dmesg | tail -n20" and post the output here.

My confusion is this. The picture that you posted above. Is that connection INCORRECT????
I am referring to THIS image
c7qv.jpg

I am asking because that is the EXACT way I have mine wired. Are you able to take a pic of how you REWIRED it for me?

Much appreciated!

Hello again! The error I think you are doing is figuring where you plumbs. You must count on the other side. I've glued together mine so unfortunately I can not show you how my looks.

Right, but the question I have is this. That image above. Is it soldered incorrectly? I am aware it is "backwards" when compared to other images. But the pins themselves. Are they wrongly soldered?

it still looks fine for me.

2 - purple - CMD
5 - Orange/red? - CLK
6 - Green - GND
7 - red/pink? - DAT0

You have 2 wires which look red to me, but looking at their position, it's fine.

I opened my card! hope this help?

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

WOW. I really appreciate you ungluing that for me. That was super nice.

so there are eight pins (that we can potentially solder to)

CMD is third from the left (or top if you are taking the picture literally)
CLK is 5th from the left
Ground is 6th from the left
Dat 0 is 7th from the left

Isn't that how you had it wired before? It seems to me it is :) (well, I didn't know what the colors are before but you had the same pins soldered)

yeah it looks like the same as his first picture, and the pins are soldered like you did.

There's no 3 pin, so it's : 9 1 2 4 5 6 7 8
2, 5, 6, 7, like you.

anyone tried to connect in four bits mode?
soldering dat1, dat2 dat3 ?
Or will it require a license to read/write to NAND?

2 - CMD
5 - CLK
6 - GND
7 - DAT0
like usual, then:
9 - DAT2
1 - DAT3
8 - DAT1

I have no idea what this means LOL! You mean we are connecting to more points on the 3DS board as well as the card reader?

But I did grab an older unit XL. I basically want to test my theory about consoles that are copyright 2012 or older, since I didn't get a definitive answer. Not going to mess with it on New Year's, but I will get to it tomorrow or something, and will report back when I do.
