havnt modded a console since xbox 360 with rgh now before i do anything i should backup my nand and put it someplace safe correct? and which should i back up the full Raw Nand or the boot partition , sys partition, or all of them or is just the full 32gb raw nand all i need to back up

Rawnand and boot
sys and user partition are aleardy in rawnand.
Just make sure to not update after you do the backup, or to do a new backup when you update

Hi all,
I'm currently backing up my rawnand. It is VERY slow. Approx. 1 hour for 10%. Is this normal???
I have a 128GB Sandisk card.
Thanks.
Well, it depends on your sd card but yes, its consumes like huge amount if time. Mine was 4 hours also.

So did you just plug it into the wall to maintain battery life? Does it charge in this mode?

Thanks.
Yep, İts on charging all time when backuping.

I did my raw nand dump last night. It took about 13mins. Was 29.1gb done it with a sandisk ultra 64gb card
Okay, my sd card sucks, transcend 2gb :ha:

Ok, well it took about 2 hours to get to 13%, before I killed it.
It may not be the fastest SD card available, but it is a sandisk, so the quality should be there!
Hmmm, I wonder what's going on?

Anyway, I read that you'll need to do a fresh nand dump if you update. I was planning to update soon anyway (still thinking about it), and if I do I'll give it another try. Maybe even try another card.....

Sounds like a fake card, or just a really low read/write capable card. I dumped NAND's on both my systems, first took 20 minutes on a 256GB Samsung EVO 90mbps card, the second 64GB generic card I had started giving errors after about 45 minutes and 50%, tried again with the EVO and it dumped again in 20 minutes. It's really up to the card.

Thanks for the reply.
Will the Switch read it if I change to exfat (I'm on 4.1)?
If so, do I just copy the Nintendo folder to the PC, format, copy back to SD card, winning?
No not unless you installed the ExFAT update. If you haven't there's a kinda complicated guide on here that involves writing the update to your NAND.

but really is a backup needed using switch sx though? I plan on making a backup but only one and no more after that I was thinking i can use the backup if i need it with this modchip to help boot and then use that to install a new update if anything go's wrong. I was thinking something like that would work for every one I may be wrong on that but if i'm right on how the RCM works it will boot the old OS no matter what so long as its there even if the efuses is burned.

Format your SD card to exFAT and try again, it should be noticeably faster.
*Hekate supports exFAT by nature, even if your Switch doesn't have the exFAT update.
