Hacking N5DS Cheat and DQ V

Hi everyone,
I have a couple of questions regarding N5DS (http://www.dsn5.com/)
I have had it for a while and almost all games work on it, however I have been unable to play Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride, I cannot get past the ship screen although I have patched the file. Does anyone know how to play DQV HoHB on N5DS?
Secondly how do I use cheats on it? I have been able to use some cheats using N5DS Alienware 1.27 bu they are in Japanese, I have tried downloading the cheat database and renaming it to BRAIN.DAT but it doesn't work.
Using the original firmware I cannot see the cheat option for any game.

Any help on these two issues will be greately appreciated.
