Update for the R4 DS clone, the N5. It fixes problems with multiple games (see below for more information).

Use FW 1.18 for R4 or 1.14 for M3. I read that it works on those firmwares.

Hi,
I have a N5. I just got it. I put 1.20 kernel / fw on it, and I copied two games to the root of the card, along with copying everything from inside the "Version 1.20" folder that it unrar'd to. When I turn it on, it says "loading..." but doesn't ever get to the 3 icon screen that the R4 does. I was trying to get my sister bf's son a cool toy, figuring if when I was 7 someone had given me a flashcart for my original gameboy it would have been heaven.

Anyway, I know there have been problems with this unit, but I just ordered it like 2 weeks ago, it arrived, it is definitely newer than at least the originals, as there is no spring. So anyway, can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? (And yes, I know I could order another card, looking for a way to make this one work, as I want to give the kid a cool present but much above $20 is a bit nuts for a kid that will probably be in my sis's life for a few months.) Any help would be greatly appreciated. I read in the 1.18 thread that that update was supposed to fix the "loading..." problem. I am going to try 1.18 when I get home if I can find it online, which I imagine I can from GBAtemp or somewhere. Anyway, any help out there from N5 owners?

N5 is a CLONE of the R4 card .. altho its a clone the R4 firmware 1.18 will not work directly it will have to be PATCHED

but makes no difference they both have the same issues not being able to run certain games without patching the game files!

as for the loader issues ... format the mem card and use the latest N5 kernel download and unrar/unpack it there should be a couple .dat/.nds files and a folder with stuff in it just copy these to the root of your mem card or the main directory when you first open the mem card in your computer you will need to put other .nds files on the mem card usually people make a folder called GAMES and put these other .nds files into this folder

list of files to be copied as follows

_system_ (folder)
moonshl (folder)
_AX_MENU.dat
_DS_MENU
_DS_MSHL.NDS


then try loading it in your ds

@others for the record YOU CAN GET THESE CLONE LOADERS TO WORK ON R4 by patching but ... the still have the same faults the same games STILL DO NOT WORK!
