Nintendo won't let us transfer content from an N3DS to 3DS/2DS, possibly due to "business reasons". I fail to see why it won't work technically. During system transfer both consoles connect to Nintendo's server and are checked what type of system they are. If the source system is a 3DS/2DS, the target system can be anything. If the source system is a New 3DS, the target system must be a New 3DS as well.

So, the theory is to check how Nintendo's server checks the types of the connected systems and edit files in those systems so that they are recognized as standard 3DS/2DS. This way a New 3DS to 2DS/3DS system transfer could be accomplished. Any thoughts?

Get Charles or an alternative proxy, run the requests through with breakpoints to find where it identifies itself and spoof what it is.
You'll need the 3DS' cert for this.

This is how YifanLu forced a system transfer from a US O3DS (think it was a 2DS) to a US -> JP region swapped N3DS Non-XL.
