If you don't really know much about computers, it probably isn't that great of an idea to ask here.

The best thing for you to do would be to go to local stores and look around, or somewhere like Dell.

Just shop around, if you see something you like link it here/list the specs and members will give you a yay or nay as to whether its good for the price or not.

Don't fuss too much about it. It seems that your "daily scheduele" isn't really that memory taking. As for the N64 emulator, you better make sure that you have both enough cpu speed, but also a nice bit of RAM on your PC. Videocards into desktops are adviceable, but since you want a notebook (right?) You might want to look for:

Windows 7, any home edition you want. Ultimate is good, but mostly hard to find in a notebook
CPU speed @ ~2,6 to 3,2 GHZ
Ram: dont fuss, your good with 2-4GB standard, if you like, you can always tweak it to 6 or 8.
Hard drive: any format ofc

Cheap notebooks don't actually exist. Get the cheaps, but they mostley are slooooooow.

Make sure you get a decent mouse, and decent virus protection.

Questions? PM

CPU speed @ ~2,6 to 3,2 GHZ The amount of Ghz doesn't say jack if anything at all.
Ram: dont fuss, your good with 2-4GB standard, if you like, you can always tweak it to 6 or 8. Meh, if you want 6GB you'll need an i7, which is freaking expensive.

Additions are in bold.

Edit: fail...

Uh, boktor never said netbook at all in his post. He said NOTEbook, which is just another name for laptop.

Almost every computer you can buy nowadays will be able to do what you want to do with it. The one you are in love with is a little pricey for the specifications it has. But it would work for you what you want to do.

this one is another alternative

It's got a dual core, the graphics card is far from the best, but you've got a bigger HDD.

EDIT: I was looking around a bit more, and I found this combo for you:
https://dynabyte.nl/artikel/7124063c130/Pac...ll_iMedia_i5701
with this screen
https://dynabyte.nl/artikel/7122906c132/iiy...208HDS-B2_22%22

obviously, you can choose any screen you want. But this would be better, then your all in one.

I've got that desktop, and the i3 is perfect for everything you want to do.

Any computer nowadays will be able to do all of that except for some games, it depends, and n64 emulation. You'd be better off with a desktop. Cheaper.

Sorry for being confuzed, this day's probably not one of my best...
Anyway, there's a lot more that you can do with dem 700 buckz. I mean, seriously, the CPU sucks, the IGP sucks. Basically, the whole thing sucks.
That is all...

After my laptop died in oct this year, i went and bought me a new laptop(thanks ns for your "allowance")

This cost me around $1, 299 since i was limiting myself to a "cheap decent laptop under 1.5k" budget
smile.gif

Specs:

Acer Aspire 4741G

---taken from the sticker on my laptop ---

Win 7 Home edition
Intel Core i5-460m (2.53 GHz, 3mb L3 cache)
Nvidia Geforce GT 415M (up to 2746mb turboCache)
14.0" 16:9 HD LED LCD
4GB DDR3 Memory
500GB HDD
DVD- Super Multi DL Drive
Accer Nplify 802.11b/g/n
6 cell Li-ion Battery
card reader
HDMI

I managed to bought this off a roadshow and there were some extra freebie given to me as well like an additonal 500G extern harddrive, a cooling fan, an extra mouse

and the usual junk like norton 2011 (which i gave away

and a 3 year warranty
