Gaming MTS format

I have a camcorder with videos in .mts format. It plays in vlc but it's EXTREMELY laggy. So how do i view a mts like a avi. (I mean like perfect)
A also run a vista.

hmmm, do you have the latest version of vlc? Have you tried a different media player like Media player classic via the k lite codec pack? Theres also the option of compressing it into another container like mp4 or mkv.

is the .mts file an hd file? Can your laptop run 720p hd files?

How do i find that out?

you can either right click the video file>properties>frame width, height

or go to vlc and select file properties and that should also give you the frame size.

Is your laptop HD ready? The video recorder that you used does it record in hd?

How do i find that out?

you can either right click the video file>properties>frame width, height

or go to vlc and select file properties and that should also give you the frame size.

Is your laptop HD ready? The video recorder that you used does it record in hd?

My laptop is the hp dv7 and it is hd ready (i think) and i use a jvc hd. But i still can't fild the preferences of the video.

okay so HD is not the problem, its easy open it up in vlc and go to tools>video information.

I think it's more likely the conversion (to AVI) that's laggy rather than your media player or hardware. first have a look at the playback directly on the camcorder (using it's viewer) to get a general idea of the minimum framerate you should expect. Then try a better multimedia converter.

If it's still laggy, then try borrowing someone else's computer to see if it's just you.
