Christophe Thibault has released v0.06 of MPlayerWii. This is a native port of the Linux media player for the Wii, which currently supports a wide range of formats.

This new version has received a significant speed update for reading files off USB medium.

What i'd like them to add is Subtitle support (.srt).
It isn't as of now, right?
anyway, nice with new releases of the mediaplayers for Wii.

    Why is the "boot.elf" a boot.dol?

EDIT: OK, works with the .dol as well [IMG] I think one never learns enough [IMG]

MPlayerWii is NOT a separate channel. It must run via a DOL/ELF loader like the Homebrew Channel.

How does this thing play h264? It must be a 480p which is useless for that format. Am I correct on this assumption?

Yes it has to be 480p, but that doesn't make it useless for the format. h264 is a higher quality codec than xvid, no matter what the resolution.

    "MPlayerWii" doesn't play DVDs (yet)
"Mplayer ("DVD Lib edition")" Does play DVDs, that version hasn't had any updates since the first release.

Still doesn't read my NTFS HD, where as GeexBox does. But GeexBox cannot be inserted into a channel, where as MPlayer can be.

They really should team up and make one complete better app.

Yes, it can, but you have to manually configure the IP in the config file before you put it on Wii, to point it to your PC.

So, the software only reads files from the SDCard or an USB pen drive?

I don't understand. Does this mean you can play files on your computer and watch them on your TV? because that would be too cool.
