Christophe Thibault has released v0.06 of MPlayerWii. This is a native port of the Linux media player for the Wii, which currently supports a wide range of formats.

This new version has received a significant speed update for reading files off USB medium.

MplayerWii always had .srt support.

How does this thing play h264? It must be a 480p which is useless for that format. Am I correct on this assumption?

Yes it has to be 480p, but that doesn't make it useless for the format. h264 is a higher quality codec than xvid, no matter what the resolution.

is it me or does this no longer play DVDs? or am i thinking of a different media player on wii that had the DVD support?

Still doesn't read my NTFS HD, where as GeexBox does. But GeexBox cannot be inserted into a channel, where as MPlayer can be.

They really should team up and make one complete better app.
