Homebrew MPlayer port for Wii released ;)

Cool! I have really wanted to watch the movies I download on the TV screen rather than on my computer. I plan to try it when I get off my lazy butt.

Most cheap $30 DVD players do divx/avi.. I still don't know why they aren't THE standard.. watching stuff on a pc sucks, as does spending an hour converting the stuff. I just copy the file to a SD or USB and stick it right in the player. 50 seconds, done.

A PMP or HTPC is the best way to go.

much faster USB reading speed (huge thanks to rodries)

USB files that wouldn't work for me with the previous version now do and they do pretty well. Also the chapter search option works which is plus over geexbox which I can only pause and not skip ahead or back.

thats what i thought... i really wanted to hook up my hardrive via usb and watch some shit. watch it good though, not crappy

The few avi xvid files I tried worked pretty smooth from my usb thumbstick.

Tried version 0.05 and most vids ran smoothly. Then I tried the first episode of Eli Stone which lagged heavily at some points. It runs relatively fine from SD though.

?? and could the other one be erased

? i heard this about some of first tool with USB support: if you connect a not compatible device all its files will be erased

i have a feeling partitions arent supported... well i wouldn't risk it unless you've backup up the whole hard-drive first.

formatted fat32.
3.5" hard drive with an enclosure.
external power source.

does it have to be the smaller portable hard drive to work? (with out the external power source)
