Success, I overlook disable the password box, thanks Eddie_Brock

@skk_depth I will try that configuration, I'm little helpless without any kind of passwords, thanks for the tip, I didn't know that =)

Where on the USB drive should I place my vids? I'm having a problem with having mplayer recognise the movies.

The only place where it sees the videos is inside the apps/mplayer_ce folder. I presume this is normal?

Also, my hdd goes in both ports, so it's quite difficult to select just one

I think I have the same issue, can anyone help?
SMB connection1 works perfectly, i.e using a specific IP address
However Connection 2, 3 dont work when using the network computer name of that PC.

My network is working fine, have used xbox's in the past to stream media from "Servername" to elsewhere, windows computers see them as shares etc.

Question is basically, can anyone confirm that I can use a name instead of an IP address? (I know I should be able to, but can anyone actually confirm it along with the syntax)

#Samba share1 (smb1:/)
ip1=192.168.1.xxx
share1=Films1
user1=Username
pass1=Password

#Samba share2 (smb2:/)
ip2=SERVERNAME
share2=Films2
user2=Username
pass2=Password

#Samba share3 (smb3:/)
ip3="SERVERNAME"
share3=Films3
user3=Username
pass3=Password

Need some help to configure my smb file, I'm running from Windows 7, pretty please =(

It's my setting for smb#3

Code:
#Samba share3ÂÂ(smb3:/)
ip3=190.168.0.8
share3=Wiishare
user3=name-PC
pass3=0

the name of my shared folder is "//name-PC/Wiishare", and it's on C:
no pass, not sure if I could need the user sesion pass...

name-PC should go under ip3 entry.
User/Pass would be data from one of Windows existing user accounts

Try this, its working for me:
CODE#Samba share3ÂÂ(smb3:/)
ip3=name-PC
share3=Wiishare
user3=YOUR_WIN_USER_LOGON_NAME
pass3=YOUR_WIN_USER_LOGON_PASSWORD
If you are logging into your Windows without password, then you could omit it, but you probably need to reconfigure your share. Alternatively you could create specific Wii Windows User Account and give it permissions to share and then put that data in smb3 as user/pass combo.

Anyone give me a hand with this smb sharing?
Im on Win7 64bit and keep getting the error "Error reconnecting to smb1"
Ive got it set up correctly,
#Samba share1 (smb1:/)
ip1=192.168.1.9
share1=vids
user1=admin
pass1=xxxx

I even made a new user Wii, pass wii and thats not going in either.
I can ping my win7 from an xp laptop, and i can ping the wii.
the wii can get the default youtube stuff and what not to load up.
I have several folders shared with permissions to everyone, read only, full control, etc, none seem to work.

Any other clues? I was stuck in a glitched homegroup for awhile and took me 30 mins to get out,I thought that was it but still no dice.

edit your .conf file with the user wii / pass wii settings as you described rather than admin.
Your Ip address looks ok so you are not suffering the same problem as me (above) and I am using win7 64 bit
* Check you can remote desktop to you win7 computer from your laptop using user = wii / pass = wii to confirm that your login/pass are correctly set up
* create a user on your laptop called wii / wii and see if you can browse your win7 computer sucessfully.

IF ALL ELSE FAILS then read on...................

* My SUMVISION CYCLONE MKV suffered the same problem with windows 7 shares so here were some suggestions:-

(1) Modify your registry
Look for and modify these parameters as the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Lsa
On the right side find ‘everyoneincludesanonymous’ change the value to 1
also Find ‘NoLmHash’ and change the value to 0

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/LanManServer/Parameters
‘restrictnullsessaccess’; change the value to 0

Close the registry editor and restart the computer. Restart your Box

(2) Use Gpedit.msc
1. Enter “gpedit.msc” in the Start Search box.
2. Open “Computer Configuration”/Windows Settings/Security Settings/Local Policies/Security Settings.
3. In the right pane, enable the following policies:
Network access: Allow anonymous SID/name translation
Network access: Let Everyone permissions apply to anonymous users

Disable the following policies.
Network access: Restrict anonymous access to Named Pipes and Shares
Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts
Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts and shares

Change the following policy:
Network security: LAN Manager authentication level Change the value to “Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated”.

Right click folder you want to share select share with homegroup read/write
If its a drive share with advanced sharing tick share this folder then permissions everyone tick full control
Restart pc and mkvbox if it was on when you started this now on box go to networks select drive or folder put in your windows 7 user name and password save to shortcut go back to shortcut folder access again put in user and password you now have access to movies etc

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I personally had most sucess with changing the network security policy to "SEND LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 sessions security"

Up to the gpedit portion and testing from my xp machine, no luck.
im thinking i have several probs being the xp machine doesnt see any pcs in the workgroup, including itself.
however i can ftp and remote desktop to my win7 perfectly.
my bro in law has a win7 machine and my wifes laptop has vista and 7 rtm. ill see if they can interact with it.
meanwhile, how good is the ftp function in mplayerce? I saw that next to the smb section. I know I can get ftp to work so if thats about the same, I could try that in the meantime.

Yes, i can confirm it 100%.

Made the share under the Vista, like described above.
In fact i can't even connect via IP (probably Vista Firewall or something else blocking it) that's why i used PC Name. One thing i noticed is that the input is case sensitive.
For example name of my PC is "TndV" and only when i used that exact name in smb.config was i able to successfully connect, even though i could connect from another XP machine with case insensitive data, but on the wii it just didn't work.
ip3=tndv // didn't work
ip3=TndV // worked

ungh, looks like its 1 way. i can connect to the win7 rtm, fresh install, but not back to mine. i double checked for same services running.
Im being a little baffled here. and not a total noob, i have a+ and net+.

Did all the gpedit stuff, no dice.

Anyone know where the cache is stored sd card or console memory?? and what are the options for editing them can you make the buffer larger without affecting the player??

have checked the googlecode page but nothing is covered on the buffer mostly menu and smb settings

Hello,
I want compile the Mplayer CE 0.76 but i have a lot of warnings and error
i think it is a problem with my libogc
can anybody upload a libogc for mplayer ce 0.76 pleace

I don't think the blame should be put on the user. The developer should see that there is a problem with the software.

I've test this in different environments and every time it fails, but sometimes it will work.

Windows xp machine with no password: Fails, but then worked later. I then tried it again and it failed again.

Windows 7 64 with and without a password and it failed.

Linux machine with SAMBA enabled and no password failed.

I've also test this across the network browsing from one computer to another and my shares are working fine. My brother connected his laptop to my wireless network and he was able to bring up the shares with no password authentication other than the windows 7 machine when I had a password set.

This is not a problem with your machines it is a problem with the software.

i'm not calling you an idiot, or offering real help here. But staying you're not a noob, you have your A+, is like saying you're not uneducated because you graduated 3rd grade.

i still don't get any video streamed from my laptop to the wii.
mabe it'S cos of windows 7 ?

is there any noob guide available which tells me how to set up win7 and mplayer ce correctly ?

The feature is broken. Works for some and others it doesn't.

You need an account + password for win7

Works sweet on my XP machine most problems I've found is with routers(firewalls blocking connection or settings) but I only use XP

Yeah it works good for my brother also.

With the exact same laptop on his WII at home. We've also tried taking my WII to his house and using the same laptop and it fails once again. When it failed I went to the youtube channel and it brought those up fine with no problems, but SMB just wouldn't work. I've tried reloading mplayer ce also and that did not help

If it was a problem on the network or firewall problem the other machines wouldn't be able to get to each other either. The WII isn't special other than the software running on it. You can't tell your computer to block WII devices it treats them the same as the other computers on the network trying to logon to the share.

I remember seeing a bug on this for mplayer ce, but the developer just closed it out saying it was a problem with the users network..... That's not right. If it worked there wouldn't be this many people reporting it as broken. My Xbox 1 with media player can see my shares fine with no problem.
