To me it has such a grand sense of scale and finality, the culmination of your entire efforts. It also wins some points for the drama of the actual battle it plays in, the final fight against your own Aeons, your trusted companions for the entire game now turned against you. If the final battle against Yu Yevon itself hadn't been such a joke, this would have been possibly the most epic ending battle to any game ever.
