Hacking Moonshell Problem

When my friend clicks 'Multimedia' (the center icon) on the R4, all he gets is the bottom screen black and the top screen blue. It then freezes.

I'm not sure what to do, because mine just works just fine.
Our differences:

He has chinese r4
He has DS Lite
His DS Lite is onyx (....)

Is there someone who can help?

Try turning off the soft reset button...but my problem was a bit different from his so I'm not sure if that will work. D:

an r4 is an r4. the chinese menu means he is running a chinese firmware. he *should* be able to put on the US firmware with no issues and vice versa. with that said it could be the moonshell release bundled with his firmware has a problem. first download the real moonshell and export it for an r4 (http://home.att.ne.jp/blue/moonlight/moonshell171p1_with_dpgtools131.zip). run that as just a .nds file and see if it loads. if it does then just rename it to '_DS_MSHL.NDS' so that the 2nd icon will boot it.
