Not even sure if this leak announce has been covered, but here.

China only from what I've heard, and developed with CryEngine3, which is amazing! But despite what I know about Monster Hunter (Which isn't very much), I call forth the Wii U Master Race to tell me this is already on the Wii U.
Hope no one Cry's about it.

    I beg you don't cry.

    Seriously, that'd be super embarrassing.

The way I see it, CryEngine 3 is available on PC, PS3, XBox 360 and Wii U - this might be for any of those four and seeing that Monster Hunter Frontier, the last Monster Hunter "MMO" was for XBox 360 and PC and released only in Japan...

    Well, I'd hate to see U Cry... ;O;

Seriously though, here's for hoping that it will be multiplatform.

Unless its on consoles, or P2P, I get the feeling this game would be horrible.

The already abysmal drop rates on some items would likely go to below 1% forcing you to buy drop rate increasing items, you'd probably have to pay to access certain weapon classes, the monsters would likely be insanely strong compared to the console counterparts, etc.

I'd be interested what all the new mechanics could do for the future of the series, but I'm not that interested in this game itself.

    I don't particularly care.

It's being published and distributed by Tencent Games. This, compounded with the fact that Capcom already had an online PC-based Monster Hunter game known as Monster Hunter Frontier which was never released outside of Japan, suggests that the chances of this game being released outside of China is extremely low.

The game also doesn't appear to have the same charm of the console based Monster Hunter games.

I'll just stick with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

My main concern with a free to play MonHun is the tendency for these kinds of games to easily become "pay to win" once they become overly popular. We all know quite a bit of horror stories of this kind regarding MMOs... All we can do is hope (that it gets released elsewhere eventually and never becomes a "pay to win" that is...)...

Almost every other article describes the game as a "free to play MMO". Guess I could be wrong though.

As I understood this game is NOT developed by Capcom at all.
Tencent - a minor gamehouse from china trying to float with the popular franchise.

What? Tencent are a huge company with operating incomes in the billions- they own the Chinese equivalent of facebook, gmail and MSN all rolled into one (see QQ), they have performed the miracle of getting people to pay for access to it on mobile and sometimes in general and it goes on. Granted I am not so sure what their games division is like as a relative thing but it is much like comparing Sony the games division to Sony as a whole and ignoring the latter.

    Ahhhh ha ha ha, nope.

That's just great. The chinese remade Hunter Blade Online in cryengine and Capcom partnered with them. I pray to god it falls flat on its face, and if it doesn't that it never leaves China.
