Homebrew Monster Hunter 3 online with dolphin possible?

I played MH3 online a week ago with my wii, and a teammate i played with claimed he was playing via Dolphin.

I've been looking into Dolphin for various reasons, and I have the singleplayer mode of MH3 working absolutely fine (build 53XX don't remember), but it crashes when I try online. Now after checking out the Dolphin boards, i hear people claiming that it's impossible without WiiConnect24 emulation. Is this true, or is there a way to get online?

Don't need any.  Dolphin doesn't emulated WC24 nor does it emulate system id yet.

I misread his post. I thought he meant people WERE getting online. not that they weren't.
