I don't think you can. I've been in the options menu a few times, online and offline. And I've never seen a way to change the text box colour.
And if I'm right about not being able to change the colour, then your only way to change it is using mods or something. But I think that could be way over your league.

I'm having no problems with the colour tho. Maybe you could try playing from a different angle?

It's not just the color, but the combination of black background and small white text. I saw ingame when the guy gives you instructions on your first time playing, the text box color changed. If there's a way to hack it to use that text box then I'd be happy to use it.

Sorry, I never saw that happening. So I can't actually help you.

QUOTE(Am0s @ May 11 2010, 09:21 AM) whats the best way to kill the royal ludroth, I have that nail sword and jaggi armour atm

On land:
The best way in my opinion is to try and cut his tail off. His tail is quite easy to cut off and when near his tail you have a big chance of dodging most of his attacks. Do focus your camera on his head, if you see him shaking his 'manes'. Then be ready for a roll attack, if he looks at you while your at his tail, he probably is going to do a tail swipe. When he jumps back or anything, charge towards him but stay on his side because there's a big chance that he will lunge towards you.

In the water:
Make sure you don't stand right in front of him and only at his sides. In the water his attacks are mainly focused on something right in front of him. Do watch out for his 360 roll. You can see it coming when he moves his head but not his body, but it's still hard to dodge if you can only dodge to the side so try to block that one.

Also make sure that your weapon is in the green constantly. Otherwise if you try to hit his mane you'll bounce back >.>

thanks will try that later tonight, 1 last question really do the potions stack i.e might pill and armorskin, or do they overwrite each other?

Only if they have different effects. You can't use 2 might's pills.
But you could use a might pill and a hot drink and a cold drink at the same time!

HR is Hunter Rank, you can only get this online offline it counts for nothing and you get no points towards it.

When you complete a quest online you get HRP, Hunter Rank Points these go towards getting the next HR.

The list you see on the page you linked is the amount of HRP you need to advance to the next HR and again this is only for online players

having said that I'm off to see if maintenance is finished

Edit:-

Well since I use the Monster Hunter Wiki alot I've been using the Monster Hunter Wiki Chat Room on their IRC channel, I went to go on the channel today to find some cool peeps to play with and apparently...I've been banned.....
dry.gif
and I don't know why.
dry.gif

On the plus side I randomly found some cool peeps and now I'm walking around with full Jhen Mohran gear
biggrin.gif
got all the weapons and armour pieces from him (lower rank) I'm a blademaster but I got the guner gear aswell for the sheer hell of it
rofl.gif
then I finished of my Lagiacrus gear upgraded several weapons huzzah I now feel slightly AWESOME.

thanks for the clarification, any of you get killed from the animations you char does when he drinks or eats when in a battle, I am off to try and kill barroth now 3rd time a charm

Yup I've been killed while eating, drinking e.t.c. several times it's quite frustrating.

When offline I try to eat only when Cha-Cha is running around as my bait and if needs be I'll enter the next zone and heal up then jump back into battle.

When online it's a little harder leaving the zone to heal is the best option but some people get stressy with that (shouting oi come back and help e.t.c.) best advice is know your monsters moves and learn which moves are it's longest try to heal during those moves and make sure your behind it and far away this will give you a few seconds of turning time if it decides to attack you after. my other advice is don't get hit
yay.gif
it's very possible to take extremely little damage, I've beat Rathian on several occasions while only taking miniscule damage from it turning round and stepping on my foot (
rofl2.gif
). I have to say the worst boss I've gone against so far is Uragaan man that thing took ages to capture online, didn't attempt killing it.

By the way whilst on a Hunt a "insert monsters name here" quest if you capture it instead of killing it you will get more rewards at the end of the quest. (which wil lbe more than you get if you kill and carve it).

Advice for Barroth, hmmm shashing its face is always a good thing, it decreases the amount of charge damage by a fair bit, but it's not the easiest things to do (easiest way is pitfall trap it a few times and smash its face in) and also cutting it's tail off reduces the likeliness of you getting hit by it.......you can also smash the hard mud off it's legs (which may sometimes give you fertile mud as a shiny pickup (needed for armour)).

Ummm....if al else fails just do it the cheap way, take lots of traps/materials to make traps trap it several times and lay into it while it's trapped, or trap it and lay lots of bombs around it then set them all off and continue to lay into it....ummmm Rhenoplos Armor will help a great deal if you keep getting caught up in the mud it slings around and umm.....yeah if you keep failing try a different weapon I Bone Bludgeon+ (hammer) is easy enough to make and it's quite a good weapon to run around with for awhile.

thanks for that I tried 2 times tonight anf ailed I have great sword just into the green sharpness, bone bludgeon right will look into that I was think of upgrading bone axe which I do have, and I got upgraded jaggi armour so you reckon Rhenoplos Armor will have a look into that, I knocked the thing down 3 times but it still gets up lol, I do find the reaction times and the animations rather frustrating, but overall I do like this game alot hehe

Well, you could do that. Or if you seem him do a attack(Mainly a attack that he will only use 1 time in succesion. Like Barroth's charge attack when he's not enraged. Or Rathian's dive attack/Qurupeco his charge and peck)roll to the side and use a potion immediately.
In most cases(with me at least). I'm standing beside such a monster and healing myself while he is recovering from his attack. Just don't take your time.
You don't have the time to switch to your potion, run away AND heal. Just concentrate on: Dodge, heal. That's all there is.

I've had lots of times where I couldn't be bothered to dodge or run away abit and heal so I've just literally stood inbetween the monsters legs and took a potion or 2 then carried on battering away. I don't have to worry about sharpening my weapon all that much, pretty much any monster will either be captured or die by the time my weapon loses its sharpness
tongue.gif
and even if it does lose it's sharpness I've got my armour setup so that when I sharpen my weapon it's pretty much done in less than half a second
yay.gif
so I don't have to run away at all just sheathe sharpen UNLEASH FURY muhahahaaa.

yeah it's great fun

I'm sooo Jealous. It was the Jhen Mohran LS, isn't it?
The day I finally got my wifi working and tried out Jhen Mohran for the first time was also the day when the event went away
ohnoes.png

So no Guan Dao for me...sigh...
Luckily I've set my armor so that Sharpness decreases very slowly. Altough it's still frustrating when you're going so well and have to stop to sharpen your weapon
tongue.gif

Yup I have the Jhen Mohran LongSword, I also have the Sword and Shiled and the full armour set (Blademaster and Gunner).

I'm alos going to gloat abit now
biggrin.gif

The 3* Urgent Quest is to Slay or Repel Jhen Mohran in 30 minutes (to Repel you just have to survive for 30 minutes and make sure your boat doesn't get destroyed) it started off as 4 of us we broke both of it's tusks in phase one and it''s back, as it slung the other 3 off it's back they ALL disconnected leaving me to fend for myself for a good 20 minutes.

Made into phase 2 of the quest without dying and mangaed to break both of it's legs before the 10 minute mark appeared on screen at which point I ran back to the ship and started pounding the cannons into it untill it got close, WHAM dragonater to the face, it stumbles back a few more cannons then gong make it stumble back again (this is to stop it from smashing the ship to pieces the gong, binding ballista and dragonater) carried on cannoning.

Unfortunately the guy in charge of binding had disconnected
dry.gif
and only 1 person can do it so that was 1 less method of making Jhen Mohran stumble back however SOMEHOW I managed to survive for the entire 30 minutes (20 minnutes by myself) and repel Jhen Mohran without dying once
yay.gif
after that moment I got back into tthe lobby and started acting like a maniac because I felt quite prod and awesome for survining
biggrin.gif
I got 2 ElderDragonBlood and 1 Earth DragonGem (pretty much the rarest materials from it) even though I didn't really need them because I have all the gear anyway
rofl2.gif
but they'll come in handy at some pointfor upgrading weapons I 'spose all I need from him now are the + materials so I can make the better armour and the better weapons
biggrin.gif
muhahahaaaa then I will truly feel pretty awesome.

I love the Jhen Mohran fight it's the most fun I've had on any monster fight so far.

Not only do you have to survive to repel, you have to deal enough damage. You'll know you've done enough damage when it does the WIN THEME and Jhen Moran isn't dead yet, usually have the 2nd dragonator hit.

DarkWay said:
It always has that theme after the second dragonater hit doesn't matter whether you've done enough damage or not.

I believe two dragonators means you've done enough damage. The damage disparity between a dragonator and you just whacking the monster is pretty huge. It has always been the case before and it's the case now. It's the same case with Ceadeus, you have to deal enough damage and survive the round to get a repel.

Yeah, but isn't it that you may die with Ceadeus and come back while he still has the amount of HP of the last time, right?
