Question.

I am totally enjoying the Online component. Getting the drops needed for weapons and armor is a great way to make this game better. Please feel free to add me and we can try and go to the same gates and same server etc. I need the Baroth stuff and all I have is Jaggi armor etc. I do have the Switch Axe but need Baroth related stuff to upgrade.

Anyone want to help just PM' me.

Thanks

Dharmaboy:-

if you add someone to your friends list or they add you to their friends list you can warp to each other if your in a city, it doesn't matter where you are online just go to your friends list click on someone you've added (they must be online obviously) and warp to them (all you have to do then is hope there's room in the city for you
tongue.gif
)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm currently offline going around the gathering quests mining for different ores I need
tongue.gif
even made some armour perfect for mining and gathering (which is Leather armour
wink.gif
with gathering and whim decorations attached) I can go out with 5 old pickaxes and mine away without having to worry about running out of pickaxes.
smile.gif

For those that don't know:-
Increasing the Gathering skill will increase the chance to gather more materials from one spot
Increasing the Whim skill will decrease the chance of you breaking your pickaxe or bug net

So combining Leather armour (which increase Gathering, Whim and Gather speed)
with 3 Gathering decorations and 2 Whim Decorations will in total increase your:-
Gathering - +18
Whim - +17
Gather Speed - +10

This setup allows you to gather ALOT more bugs, ore, mushrooms and herbs.

To give you an idea of how this worked out for me, I went out with 5 Old Pickaxes, mined every ore spot in Flooded Forest and only 2 of my 5 Old Pickaxes broke, with that I gather over 20 total various ores (including 7 malachite
tongue.gif
) before I headed back to camp to finish the gathering quest.

Oh and the decorations you need to attach are:-
3 x Gathering Jewel
2 x Blessing Jewel

If you wanted to go all out you could add acouple more of these 2 Jewels by making a new weapon and upgrading it till it has alot of slots available (Bone Bludgeon+ has 2 slots and is very easy to make
wink.gif
)

Oh and before set out make sure you eat some food from the Felyne Chef, try to get Felyne Gatherer and Felyne Woodsman to increase productivity even further
smile.gif
(I'd suggest eating grain + dairy, here's a list of what you can combine Felyne Chef Guide).

Happy Gathering

+18 and +17 is utterly useless. You should be targeting +10, +15, +20. Gathering doesn't give you any benefit beyond 15, so just stick to that, same with Whim.

For Gathering equipment you cannot say that is bad, compared to 10 and 15 this is alot better so shush your mush.

It's designed to be cheap and effective, not all out elitist and expensive.

With this setup I've found theat I'm gaining ALOT more materials that I need and it's costing me hardly anything in the process (bug nets, pickaxes) they hardly ever break so there's no need for me to constantly buy more.

Come up with a viable reason why this is rubbish before you start complaining that it's useless.

You edited while I was typing.

So now I'll ask this.

Where does it say that the skill doesn't do anything once it's past 15? if this is true why can you go past 15?

Seems abit stupid that a skill won't gain benefit from going past 15 if it can go past 15 anyway.

I'm not saying it's bad. You don't get any bonuses for going beyond 15, it's a waste of a slot. Use it for something else. I don't think you understand how armor skills work. Look at that chart and tell me where you get a benefit for having +18?

Now I think I'm starting to get what you meant, I guess this skill system is a little more complicated than I originally thought.
I apologise for my earlier comment then.

But still it's retarded >.> if you don't gain benefit past a certain point you shouldn't be able to go past that point

Oh this post, the way you type, it's so wonderfully british I loved reading it!
More on-topic though, I'm Hunter Rank 5, yay!
I also got my full jaggi set, and I'm working on a ludroth one!
I wonder if I've played with fellow GBATempers not knowing it?

thanks for the tip either way. I made a leather set with your specs and just plan to use it with my Rudros Nail gear to defend myself in the event of attacks.

you might want to look into the fate skill as well if you're farming. get more rewards at the end of the quests. and iirc there are a couple earlier armour sets that provide a decent amount in the fate skill.

O.O how the fuck are you supposed to kill Barioth? he doesn't stay still long enough for you to hit it once at all just constant claw swipe, tail swipe, fly attack. seriously wtf I spent half an hour running around dodging not being able to hit it only to give up because I got pissed off at the fucking thing.

You have plenty of chances to hit Barroth. I'm not sure what you're using, but I used a hammer and was able to kill it and hammers are pretty freaking slow. Typically, you can hit him after a charge if you know what signs to look for (he has two different types of charges one far and one short), when he stays in place and does a low roar, or when he's rolling in the mud. You should take swipes then move. Attempting to go all out on it will get you killed. For the charges, roll (to your right, its left) then turn around and whack it then roll out of the way. Also, trapping it in a corner or side is a good way to keep it from moving away from you after a charge that way you can smack it on the head.

If you think he's crazy I wonder how you'll feel about Diablos.

Killed a Barroth using a Great Sword (I don't actually use any other weapon outside the Great Sword and the Longsword, yeah, crazy, I know) just yesterday.

Just have lots and lots of Megapotions with you, and dodge its hits like there's no tomorrow

he's talking about the barioth, the tigrex variant.

just wait him out, don't bother chasing him, look for times when you can sneak in a hit or two. its fast, but beatable, while i haven't fought it yet, every monster is beatable, you just need to wait it out. its not going to have obvious openings, but they'll be there. if anything look up youtube video's, there'll be people who've recorded themselves and done a little guide or something.

if you think the barioth is hard, i don't know how you'll find the elder dragons/wyverns.

-_- Why are your talking about Barroth......>.> you really think I'd have trouble with that heap of junk?

BARIOTH notice the difference?
Barroth
Barioth

2 completely different monsters.
That and from my discription since when does Barroth have a flying attack? he doesn't have wings >.>

Even Barioth has a plenty of chances. You're just slow at learning the moves. First off, he'll ALWAYS pause after a double jump charge and he does that quite often. I think you're just scared to hit it. Also, basically for every monster, you get an opening when they do their turning animation.

Seriously, if you're that scared of getting hit, look into the Sense ability so that Cha-Cha or other players take the aggro.

yeah jiggah's right. just watched a quick fight against a barioth on youtube. he wags his tail around after the double jump. if can get up to him when he fires his snowball thing, is another good chance. his flying attack (gets up in the air and then dives to a player) he wags his tail for a bit, another opening you can get one or two hits in.

tl;dr: watch his tail, when he wags it after a move, you can usually deal some damage.
