I heard that Wii consoles manufactured after August 2009 can not have modchips inside them? Is this true? Or only true for solderless ones?
    Regards

Depends if you have one of the new drives(won't play burned disks at all), if you have a Wii with one of the new drives No chip will work your only way is to replace the drive or use a usb loader

Just to update this topic for anyone in the future that might read it having found it in a search, the easiest way to use modchips such as the drivekey in these newer style Wii drive, is to buy a replacement Wii DVD drive PCB. You want the non D3 one. This can be swapped out with a quick bit of soldering and then you can use a drivekey. The Wii's serial number can be used to check if it has a D3 style drive, but often this is not accurate if your Wii is a refurb or had a repair, as they tend to use the newer style drives even in older cases/chassis.
