Hello there,

I would like to mod a Nintendo switch but I am having a hard time finding a un patched model. I think that with some patience I could solder on a mod chip but I am wondering.
Does the mod chip have a set OS or can it be changed? I can't find documentation on YouTube which is my main source of knowledge. I just want to be able to backup cartridges to my SD card.

Thanks,

Sincerely,

your loving uncle,

Yes you can put other OS like Atmosphere on a SX chip modded Switch, but odds are it will be easier to find a Un-patched switch, new or used, than it will be to find a SX mod chip now days anyways, but good luck either way on your path! :grog:

I suggest just messaging a bunch of sellers on eBay asking for the serial number, and compare with https://ismyswitchpatched.com/
It shouldn't be that hard to find one, there are plenty (used) hackable units out there.

Why do you need an unpatched model if your soldering a mod chip?
Unpatched models don’t need one.
Modchips were literally created for the other units.

If that is a question for me than, I don't I want a version 2 switch but didn't want to run proprietary software on a mod chip.

If you can find a SX mod chip, then I'd get that in hand first, then decide, because NOBODY can find them now days!
