This is the anniversary edition of MKW-Fun. Exactly 10 years ago, on February 14, 2010, the very first distribution of MKW-Fun (MKW-Fun 2010-02) was published in collaboration with Jillian. At that time we had to swap the tracks in manual and painstaking work with WiiScrubber. Since I definitely didn't want to do that again, I started to implement the creation of the images in WIT tools.

At that time there were 10 arenas plus 32 tracks. Due to the lack of custom tracks, there were many texture and model hacks. MKW-Fun 2020-02, on the other hand, contains 10 battle arenas plus 32 original tracks plus 347 custom tracks, which are divided into 2 Battle Cups and 96 Racing Cups. Compared to the predecessor MKW-Fun 2019-10, there are 24 new tracks and 28 updates. 5 tracks are removed.

There are also some new features in LE-CODE: For example, Goombas are restored to scaled size after hit and the position tracks is hidden in some parts of the race. In addition, there are other new features that are very interesting for track creators. One of them is the enlargement of the effective range of items in the online game, so that we could include »The Plain of Atlantis«.

By the way, I'm still looking for a cover designer. I would be delighted to have a nice cover for this anniversary edition!

The next MKW-Fun will appear on June 18th. On this day, Wiimmfi runs exactly 2231 days. And that is exactly the number of days with which the original MKWii could be played on the original Nintendo/Gamespy server. So another anniversary!

@markehmus Not bad, actually very good! I suggest making something like this for 2020-06 or whatever is the next version, just make sure to be early next time.

Hey that's an amazing job!!! I only have a question, is there any way to disable the 16:9 aspect ratio? I play Wii on an old crt tv, on the main menu some elements are outside the screen and on the race I'm not able to see the place number. I also tried forcing the letterbox aspect ration on my Wiiflow, but it looks the same.

    Thanks!!

The position tracker being off seems to be a bug in LE-CODE (which could potentially cause the main menu to be off, too). I did change some stuff related to the position tracker, and never tested that on a 4:3 screen. I'll look into that.

Hi, I'm new using these things, and I have a little question. Can I play mkw fun 2020 in the dolphin emulator? because I have already created a new image but when I open it in the emulator, it freezes when it opens, the fps go down to zero but the emulator keeps responding. Thank you

Forget it already works xd. I had to update dolphin to the most recent version, it seems that 5.0 was not compatible, I leave my question in case anyone else has this doubt

I have just released v2. v2 is fully compatible with v1.

The only change is an update of the LE-CODE:
    • Fixed the hide-position-tracker functionality for 4:3 screens.
    • Fixed a freeze bug that occasionally occurs when a player leaves a room and the current track uses the hide-position-tracker feature.
There are now two alternatives: Either v2 is downloaded completely (508 MB) or an update from v1 to v2 (<1MB) is copied to the v1 directory.

    Download and more:
    * Track list (text with slots)
    * Track list as web page
    * Download v1 (508 MB, unpack with any 7z/xz tool)
    * Alternatively download update from v1 to v2 as ZIP or TGZ
    * Installation guide
    * Size of the image file (WBFS or WDF): 1.9 GB.

Hi I'm new to building these kart fun games.
I downloaded the mkw-fun-2020-02.v2.txz and unzipped it.
    Where do I get the ' create-image.bat ' files??

    Nevermind, I figured it out.
It's a zipped file within a zip; confusing...
    Converting now....
