So, I got my miyoo mini yesterday and tried to add a nes game on. However, when I put the sd card back in, it doesn't boot

Are you using the SD card it came with? If so the card probably corrupted. The card it ships with are low quality.
This is correct. Ditch the included SD card reader as well. Pick up a decent Samsung or SanDisk card, and I would suggest installing OnionOS immediately. IMO it's a worthwhile quality of life upgrade over the stock OS. Their installation guide will help you format the new SD card properly.
