It's called obsidian, as far as I know, it's only mine-able (is that a word) with a diamond pick. You can make it by putting water over a lava spring.

Stupid me.
I made an obsidian farm out of wood in preparation for the update. I changed the floors to wood and the lava got loose. It destroyed a large piece of land right before the Halloween update later today.

I still have 35 Obsidian in my inventory, though.

Its like making a Compass, but only using Gold Ingots instead.

Do you also loose all of your stuff when you die?

I was about to get some Obsidian walking around with my Diamond pick when I'm suddenly killed from behind. I walk right back to the spot, but my stuff is not there!

I cant get water either. Anyone?

Since my world got trashed by water and fire, I made a new world.
I was doing fine (cheat-free) until I encountered a creeper and a spider. They killed me and the stupid item bug prevented me from getting my items back. Should I hack?

They stay for a while but go eventually. I'm afaid your fucked. If you really can't do without your items, just hack.

An emergency Sunday update was released.
It fixes the item bug. Armor is now broken, though.

I must say Biomes are amazing. Especially on a new world.

@metamaster: I guess I won't hack. I prefer to have that sense of accomplishment rather than getting the items through INVedit/MineEdit. I want some Obsidian, though and all I have is a stone pick. I'll have to mine for some diamond and then find some lava and make some Obsidian. I miss my old flooded world.

Ahh... Both great and a little sad day in Minecraft. First I built a Mob Killer around a Mob Spawner I found in my mine.

It spawns skeleton dudes, so I'm getting a lot of arrorws!

A bad thing happend though. I had set my player too just stand there collect arrows (while I was browsing GBAtemp ofc

), but then a creeper came and killed me!

It took some time before I noticed, so when I had returned back I had lost all the arrows! I had collected over 500 arrows too!
