Wondering if play coins can be exploited as well as the stock games. I would also be interested in free hats/unobtainable accessories. Any help would be appreciated!

You can use any Exploit to launch Homebrew Launcher and use PlayCoinSetter for set XXX PlayCoins (up to 300 coins) without shaking the console.

I think you will need a Hex Editor or a Save Data and inject it for this. or simple, use PlayCoinSetter and just unlock each hat.
EDIT: Check TCRF Mii Plaza and check if some hat is unused, but you need a Hex Editor to put it to you mii!
Nope, no unused hats, only unused songs and stuff.
