You just have to make sure that the folder names match the file name exactly.

I'm still get the following error:

"The Game Card could not be read"

Switch firmware is 18.0
Latest MigSwitch Firmware
SanDisk SD Card 200gig format to exfat

I just tried to create a folder with your specification you suggested above.

My switch has been ban long ago and the Rom i got was from a Rom Site XCI file. I do not have all the other file only the XCI file.

I was under the impression if you do not care to go online, you only need the xci file even if it came from a rom site. Am I wrong?

Yes very wrong. You need the other files. I suggest reading though the migswitch FAQ https://migswitch.com/#/faq

Just wanted to say that I found this thread after hitting my own head against a wall. I could not get the light to turn any color besides red yet over & over checked my sd card setup, tried fat32 instead of exfat, etc. I then tried a second card I had laying around (SanDisk Evo 256GB) and it worked first try. There seems to be some sort of compatibility between the MIG and certain SD card variants as my 64-GB Yoshi themed SanDisk card did not want to work no matter what I tried.

It will only update and make the light flash once unless you use a different firmware file you likely just missed it, it’s a super fast blink of an LED

Did you try and put any games on it ? The cart won’t be recognized by the Nintendo switch unless you place the game files on the SD card following the proper folder structure

After all the switch can’t read a game that isn’t on there
Thank you so much, this was driving me crazy, didnt realize i had to copy the files to the sd first, thought i could use the dumper to copy them. Thank you so Much

just got my mig switch and followed instructions to the T to update it and all im getting is a red light and then a message saying cart not recognised,
all im trying to do is update it to the latest firmware, it says it should flash blue when updating but all i ever get is 3 red flashes then "cart not recognised"

sd card is formatted to exfat, update file placed on root what am i doing wrong?
are some sd cards not working or something?
heres a pic of the sd card once i put it in the switch it creates an .nxindex file but its not flashing blue or anything so what exactly is the update process and what am i doing wrong?
using latest update 1.1.2 but i have tried them all
Same issue like you. Don't know what to do.

No matter what i do the led has only shined red. I've used multiple sd cards formatted to exfat, tried updating the firmware, and even tried multiple of my backups, even fresh new backups straight from the dumper. Is it possible i got a dud?

Mine was working, but when switching between two games via the button it gave a card read error. Kept saying game wouldn't load. Couldn't switch away from it. Reseated card, no change. No LED activity at all.

Cleared the SD card, moved just one game over at random, no change . LED is dark unless I remove the SD card entirely, then it's red for a few seconds then goes black. It does make a .nxindex file. Trying a different SD card has no effect. Trying in the Hectate menu instead of the Switch OS does nothing. Trying on other switches doesn't work. Updating the firmware doesn't work as far as I can tell, I keep seeing 1.1.4 in the .nxindex file.

I'm wondering if a corrupt file nuked the hardware somehow (they're all dumps using the NRO dumper on an OG Switch) or if the MIG just died. Got it off Aliexpress so there's a non zero chance I got a clone. Not the end of the world other than the madness that replacing it will be.

I have a 128gb san disk sd card, after trying multiple times, it just didn't work.
i reformated to exfat. First I put the update s2 file and then I put a game the correct way folder name.xci with all the files 3 or 5.

Before I put the games and then the update file s2. That way it didn't work. You need to put the update s2 file FIRST.

Also another issue I had with a samsung evo 256gb. It was working fine for a week. Then it stopped. There is a txt file that is created in the root of sd card. You just need to delete that file and it should work like normal.
