"Microsoft's a very big company, and you've got Twisted Pixel, a relatively smaller developer. We're very invested that they get to stay who they are, and they get to retain the magic they've got as a smaller indie developer," Booty said. "We'd like to leave the golden goose alone, so to speak."

Twisted Pixel CEO Mike Wilford said the main thing changing for the studio (which will keep its Austin location) is the scale of future projects.

"Ever since the very beginning we've done things our way, with our own sense of humor," he said. "I think you're going to see more of the same type of approach to our games, but with greater resources and time. You're going to see us be able to make bigger games and richer games going forward."

Phew. I saw the title and instantly thought "PixelJunk Shooter" and I almost fainted. Then I remembered that Q-Games does the PixleJunk titles.

Twisted Pixel does XBLA releases anyway, right? At least this way they get support from Microsoft.

They've done 'Splosion Man, Ms. 'Splosion Man, The Maw, Gunstringer, and Comic Jumper.

That's what I mean. They've only done XBLA stuff before anyway. This way they get more backing from Microsoft. Ideally, they would've stayed open and been able to develop for other consoles, but if they were XBLA material only in the first place..

Think of the Kinect potential.

Well The Gunstringer has been hailed as one of the few only good Kinect titles that don't involve being aimed at a super casual crowd (the other being Child of Eden), so hopefully they'll actually develop the tech into something useful, or something worth buying, or something worth buying and playing for more than an hour before going "Well that was kinda neat, but now let's use it as a dust magnet!"

Microsoft's a very big company

That made me think that people doesnt know what microsoft is........

They produced, at one point, the world's wealthiest man (who would still be the wealthiest if it wasn't for his massive philanthropic endeavors) and have produced the most successful computer software in history. They're huge.

Well, I hope they don't end up like Rare. Still, it might not be all bad; I'd be interested in seeing what they do with Microsoft's resources.

Microsoft may be a big company, but why do I always picture taking them on akin to kicking a defenseless puppy? No I would never do that really, but just an analogy to my thoughts.

The bigger you are, the harder you fall. Money cannot buy you everything.

I'm sure they'd kick a defenseless puppy. It's not like their founder donates billions of his own dollars in the name of philanthropy to help promote change in Africa.

Microsoft: Evil incarnate.
