Im looking at getting hold of a cheap Wii and modding it to play from USB.

I dont have a hard drive but what i do have is a 64GB Micro SD which goes into an adapter which plugs into USB. Will this work in the USB port of the Wii for useable memory? Or does it have to be a USB flash drive or USB hard drive.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I cannot seem to find an answer

    should work

µSD -> SD adapter in SD slot should work too btw

but you will need to reformat it to fat32
    sdxc are exfat by default

That should work fine. You could also get a micro SD to SD adapter and use it in the SD card slot of the wii, if you wanted. Honestly though, a 250GB or 320GB USB hard drive (maybe even 500GB if your lucky) would cost you less than a new Wii Game, and you could hold basically all of the wii games that are any good on that.

Are you guys sure about it working in the Wii's sd slot? A 64GB msd is probably gonna be sdxc not sdhc.

64GB mSD cards aren't necessarily SDXC; in fact, I've only seen them as SDHC.

SDXC works the same way as SDHC, except non-SDXC devices don't know how to typically read from exfat, thus requiring the format to fat32. Also, non-SDXC devices can't take advantage of the higher IO speeds, falling back to SDHC speeds.

 Y U NO TOLD ME! I got a 64GB SDXC for a birthday present and have literally been sitting on it for 8 months wondering what I should use it for.

Some devices do accept SDXC once formatted to FAT32 (not all though). There are actually two versions of SDXC (3.0 and 4.0), 3.0 is just SDHC + exFAT while 4.0 is a completely different standard.

I use a 16GB MicroSD with an Adapter for my Wii, so I see no reason that it wouldn't work.
