I know how to use NDStool and I've also switched a lot of files.

It makes a lot of great effects.

Exemples :
Vidéo on Youtube

Yesterday I launched a MPH Démo TestMap and it worked :

Video

I know a lot of things on the rom. With dsgraph software, I look at the model files to know what is it.
I discovered that the maps files are in "archives" (70% sure) with the *.arc extension. I want to know how to extract the map files and how to edit it.
I don't know how to use hexadecimal, but if you explain me how, I will learn

Thanks !

NB : If you can speak french do it because I've got some problems with this language

NB 2 : I placed the Metroid from the demo to the rom Final Version

This is great, i see this modified game in action (on a french forum) and i test it, its a great begin, but its just a copy/paste turn lol, we need serious romhacker (Hu deufeufeu

Dsgraph allow to open the model of the demo, so we need something for the model of the original game...... theye are a lot of extension in this game, a lot of is very..... crypted XD

It was a vidéo but she disappeard. Probably the person who I gave the rom to test (I've got no linker now) dealeted it from dailymotion because he was by his grandmother who spoke during the video.

Hi, WOW
ohmy.gif

Do you know who long I've been waiting for this???
THANKYOU SO MUCH SpyMaster!

Nice to see more people starting out.
Speaking in French: I would rather not get into tech discussions in it right now but I can get by if you really want.

arc aka NARC files can by opened with a fair few things. Try narctool first and then maybe crystaltile2

Hexadecimal: I wrote up a quick guide in the link below but basically computers only use 1 and 0 at present and instead of writing long strings we write one character to take the place of 4 binary digits.
As there are two binary digits and 2x2x2x2=16 We use the numbers 0 through F (F being 15 in decimal).

You can use the hexadecimal numbers to describe whatever you like. Rom hacking is just figured out what they do and changing them to your own ends. Easier said than done most of the time though.
I suggest you look at the NSMB level hacking to get started:

3d is different but it should give you a good idea.

Thank you FAST !

But I've already tested with Dexter0's NARC tool but it didn't work !

I'll read your documentation post, read the treeki webpage and I'll will post any news about what I'll discover.

Hello all, I'm one of the first person working on "project map"
I realesed many version of MPH modificated but it were only renaming.
But the project has "spread out" and every game could be "dissected" now^^

Sorry for my poor english : I'm french to.

Several things:
1)The .arc files in the archives directory are not narc or arcs
2)Anyone interested in reverse engineering the map format?
