Here? Right here? What about, say... over there?
I'm going through and am going to try to beat every 2d Metroid in order, based on story line. TO start it off, I can;t decide to play Metroid or the remake zero mission to start. Any suggestions?

I would go with Zero Mission. I love the NES, and I love its games, but Metroid is just too... "empty" for me to ever enjoy. I never feel like I'm exploring, as much as I'm simply moving through filler rooms between some fairly insignificant fights or items. The Zero Missions remake gives you a ton of fleshed out gameplay, pathing, and level flow to enjoy in comparison.

Though really, I'd say play maybe ten, twenty minutes of the original, and see how it feels on you. The game doesn't radically change as you progress, so your experience here should indicate what the rest of the game would feel like, and whether you should ditch it for the Zero Missions remake instead.

That's my opinion, at least :)

...Can you shoot diagonal in zero mission?

Thanks for the help. I;m going with zero mission, because I like to shoot diagonal.

Glad to see you've made the right choice.

As an added bonus, Zero Mission also comes with the original Metroid (as an unlockable, I believe). So that's pretty nifty.

Yeah. You unlock it upon beating Zero Mission once, IIRC.

I think it's actually Metroid Fusion that unlocks the original Metroid, and it unlocks it on Metroid Prime.

Nope, they're right, clearing Zero Mission also unlocks the original Metroid.

Play Zero Mission first.... and then play the original game until you get bored

Zero Mission Easy, (lots of new stuff added to it that not in the original)
NES, Metroid, HARD (30 life when you start, very unforgiving)
