Gaming Metroid Dread still alive?

Ya 2D Metroid would be very nice! I love the GBA one ^^

There's a strange thing about that. The chronology of the games place Metroid Prime episodes between Metroid 1 and 2. Metroid Dread was supposed to be a sequel to Fusion, Fusion is after Super Metroid. It doesn't fit.

Well "project dread" might be near completion but that doesn't mean Samus has to face it right after prime 3

But I think it is definitely a developer nod more than anything.

Matt Cassamassina, when asked about Metroid Dread in a podcast on the 24 August 2007, mentioned that "a wink to the fans" about the game was in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, although he clarified that this was by no means a confirmation of the title. This was later explained as an in-game message within Metroid Prime 3: Corruption stating "Experiment status report update: Metroid project 'Dread' is nearing the final stages of completion."
