Are DS games supposes to run well on the Switch?

I mean, watching YouTube videos and everything appears to run well, but my experience is hot garbage.

So, my hacked v1 switch is on 17.0 I believe

The only melonds nro file I could find anywhere is from 2021. Release 6 fix 1 is the version
Even though on the melonds page, the latest version is from a few months ago.

So, you're telling me there's been no update on the switch version of melonds since 2021?

I load up Impossible Mission and the video.is choppy and slow as all hell.

I load up Drsgon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime and the video is a little slow, but the audio is choppy as hell.

I load up Arkanoid DS and the video is fairly fine, and the audio is slightly choppy, but plays fine.

Wtf

Maybe use a newer version: https://gbatemp.net/threads/melonds-for-switch-continuation.570021/

That leads to the version that I have installed. Apparently version 6 fix 1 is the newest version for the switch

Make sure you enabled the JIT recompiler.
Okay, thanks for that.
Got that enabled and well, everything is running now.

But, here's my new problem.

Everything is running too fast.

Trying to play a handful of games that I have played to death and know how they should run by heart.

Civilization Revolution, the entire game, video and audio are too fast.
Okay, I try lowering the clock speed to the lowest one...714hz?
And it runs a lot better. Still not perfect, but better. Biggest thing is the audio is still choppy.

Try another game at the exact same clock speed....Chrono Trigger.
Nope, lighting fast all around.
Try Final Fantasy Tactics A2.
Nope. STIll way too fast, even at that slow clock speed.

So, how does this get rectified?

I should state that if i try and run MelonDS in applet mode, it will crash every time.
So, I have to run it in non-applet mode.
Would the game I Pick to run non-applet mode make any difference at all?

Thanks.

I use this one with no probs, didn't have to change a thing however I'm not playing any major power hungry games... mario kart and ctgp, newer and another mario bros, a 3d world mod thing and lego star wars 🤷‍♂️
