Uh huh, that's right, EXE is back... But there's a catch!

Capcom finally unveiled their new addition to the Rockman line at the World Hobby Fair - Rockman EXE: Operation Shooting Star. It's not just a EXE game, but a Shooting Star crossover, as well, going a step further than the little side quests we got in early SSR games. Information is scarce at the moment, outside of rumor and banter, but it's confirmed to be a NDS title slated for 2009 release. More information to come in the September issue of CoroCoro.

So.. What do you think it's going to be? A remake or a whole new game with Lan and Megaman.EXE & Geo and Omega-Xis?

Probably a remake

Yeah. that's probably why I prefered EZE over Star force. 2D was great.
I hope for some kind of plot with Megaman EXE and Megaman from the star force series. altough maybe it's going to be cheesy. It's capcom ...

I'm really not sure if this will be a remake. For one thing, the pictures have BOTH Megaman.exe and Geo Stellar in it. That remake rumor was started on some Japanese blog that was just spouting an opinion or speculation. No truth to it until we get more info.

I'm still thinking it's a crossover inspired by that secret scene in Starforce 1 where you can insert a Battle Network game in slot 2 to meet Megaman.exe in a special neat scenario. SPOILERS for the scenario, a video, and my opinions-

Basically, you insert any BN game into slot 2 and warp into the dog house computer space next to Bud's house. There's some sort of wave distortion there and a voice will ask your assistance in retrieving some lost data. I'm not sure how to do this or where it is (never done it personally), but if you retrieve it, you can meet Megaman.exe.

Dialog-

Geo: hey! can you hear me?
I got your data back!

?: really!? what a relief!

Geo: so how am i supposed to get this to you?

?:I don't know. Oh, wait a sec.
I'm going to try jumping through to you!
... hah!
Wh-where am I?

Geo: you...
You look like me...
*rumble rumble*

Megaman: Oh no!!
the wave ball is collapsing!
sorry, but i've got to hurry!

Megaman gave: "MystrDat" to... Megaman!

Megaman: Thank you!
Here's something for helping us!
A little something to show our thanks!
Megaman got Mega weapon: "BN Blstr"!!

Geo: Thanks...
By the way, who are you...?

Megaman: Me?
I'm Megaman! I'm Lan Hikari's Navi!

Geo: Wha!? Megaman!?
Megaman... I guess there are other's out there with the same name as me, huh?

I had to transcribe it because I don't think the quality is up to scratch to see the text. And I doubt this can be done in an emulator since you need to link up a GBA game with it.

At any rate, the text was kind of interesting. The warp could be some sort of time travel sequence that occurred. That would be an intriguing story IMO. Megaman.exe is clearly confused as to where he is and speaks of Lan as if he's still alive and his operator. Remember that Starforce takes place 200 years after Battle Network. No way any of those characters could still be alive in their human forms (unless they were transformed into data). Anyways, I digress. An interesting concept for a crossover that they already have a decent base for thanks to that scenario. Sorry for the wall of text.

I hope that it's more like BN, i liked those so much better than SF...

But truthfully, I wouldn't mind it being like SF, becuase it was still pretty good. I'm looking forward to Ace & Joker in a few days

I'm curious about the corssover, though... I hope they don't butcher the storylines for either games.

Meh, I just want a 4th RnR game. The idea about a crossover isn't that nice. :/
NO NO NO NO. Have you even played Mega Man Battle Network?

Star Force's limited movement makes the game way too easy and it gets boring fast imo. I'd rather see MMBN7 than a MMSF4.

I would like to see 2D gameplay with some MMSF features such as shield and lock-on.
shield actually comes from battle network.
but it wasn't in all games and you only got it somewhere halfway down the storyline.

Oops, forgot about that. I think of it as a MMSF feature because it's easier to activate the shield in MMSF.

But seriously, once you start comparing. MMBN series are, far, far more awesome.

(Which is why theres a fan project of RnR being in BN styled...)

I've not heard of this "project". Do tell and please give a link to it or whatever.

Most important is the the battle system. I dont care who the main character is, please be 2D.

(well,i am more biased on MMBN so...)

Such great finds Sanderino & Ragna

I'm also hoping this is 2D, I actually would've played MMSF more if they were.

...Yes, I've played Rockman EXE and enjoyed it, a lot. It's just that the series had a official ending to it, and IMO it seems pointless to bring it back.

Have you even played RnR through Wifi?
