Hacking Megaman 9 DLC Compatability

I did it! I got it to work. The wad won't install, BUT it will set up the wr9e folder, which is apparently enough for the shop to THINK you've purchased it, but that you deleted it and will list dlc as ready to download instead of having to pay points. I'm double checking. If it works, it'll find it's way to the net.


EDIT: nvm... seems my excitement was premature. further testing shows it won't allow you to download on other wii's. It did install the ticket and title, which the store recognized, but it seems that it won't allow downloading on other wii's.

I think that someone said that the download content installs something on your Wii, not unlock it. If that is true, can someone share their save data? Just a guess...

i just tried mm9_dlc_02-cw7.wad (the DLC wad) and it didnt work with the NTSC -WVCDUMPS wad...

and thats curious as the nfo from the -CW7 DLC wad said it was region free... must not be

(posted a min to slow as ^, but yeah doesnt work with NTSC)

install mm9 dlc1 wad play it and make a save file then go back and install mm9 dlc2 wad

EDIT: did exactly like you said, free'd em, installed the game, started a profile/save file, exited, installed the DLC, started the game again and nothing happened.
No sign of any extra options, no message saying I got anything, nothing. :'(

I think a extra file gets stored in the the MEGAMAN 9 Save file (which you can't copy to a SD Card).

The reason I say that is because I extracted both Sambe De Amigo PAL Wii Saves. Mine which didn't have the content downloaded and my brothers which did. In his save file, I noticed an extra file which contained his necessary Wii details. I can post this extra file tomorrow.

I actually copied his save onto my Wii and installed the Song Pack 1 (I dumped myself). Once Nintendo's server stops playing up, I'm let to see if I can redownload the extra content. Hopefully because I'm using my brothers save, it will let me download the content again for free (I tried using my original save but the Wii would not download the content. It did however say I had paid for it).


What we need to do is extract the MEGAMAN 9 Save from a Wii (that has the downloadable content). The only problem is, Wii Save Extractor only works on Wii Titles as you have to put the disc in the Wii for it to read and dump the correct save. If only it would work on Wii Channel Titles.

that makes sense, they block it from being transfered because it contains DLC info, and they don't want others to get it for free.

tranfering from SD to wii after extraction shouldn't be a problem, all we need is someone who has it working (legit or otherwise?) to find a way to extract it >_

The file in Samba De Amigo that appears is Download Content appears is called "EC.CFG".


It has occurred to me that perhaps the download content doesn't work because the accountID and accountDeviceCode have to match. Only a theory mind.

hey radioshadow, u might want to check the hex part of what you posted, it looks like it still has your wii's device id.

not sure but geckoOS might allow transfer of no copy channel saves, the rebooter works for disc saves, but i haven't tried channel saves.

haha! Got it working, it had something to do with the internet.
This is what I did(without the various retries):
Region free'd the game and DLC wads
Updated Wii to 3.3
Installed MM9
started the game and made a save file
Installed DLC wad
started the game again, didn't work
started the shop channel
updated internet channel (it had been awhile since I used it, quite)
updated photo channel (same as internet)
updated Wii Vote channel (again as above)
exited
decided to play MM9 anyway so I started it up
game menu now had the extra options from the DLC!!!

1. Delete the mm9 you already have
2. Put this WAD through freethewads
3. Install both the WAD and DLC order doesn't matter
4. Enjoy your free DLC!

Worked for me as soon as I entered and immediately exited shop channel. Does shop channel install hidden updates or something?
