I've got a Motorola MC 9090 (It's a Pocket PC/Inventory scanner running Windows CE 6.1, manufactured June 2012), and its resistive touch panel is registering phantom inputs.

Optically, everything looks fine - no liquid damage that would be visible, however, the panel is a touch cloudy.

I don't think that this is a problem of wear over time, as the touch panel of my MC9060 (older model, mfg'd June 2005) doesn't display this cloudiness.

Is there anything I'm forgetting here, or am I just fucked, and better off getting a new one?

Figured it out.

For those that come after me: Your digitizer is shot. That's the touch panel itself. Currently, replacements can be had for around ten bucks on Amazon and eBay.

To remove the old one, remove everything from the shell, put some alcohol (isopropanol or ethanol both work) on the outside to loosen the adhesive, let sit for a minute or two, then carefully press the panel inwards. It's made from plexiglass, so you can bend it significantly before it shatters.
